Do you find that you don’t like your own country’s local food?

As a Chinese living in Asia who couldn’t speak proper Chinese, I’m so sick and tired of Chinese food because I have basically eaten them all the DAMN TIME! There are international cuisines in my country but it’s not surprising due to their higher pricing. I personally love Japanese, Korean and European cuisines. I have been to Japan and I absolutely love their ramen and their ice creams. I’m talking about Matcha, Sakura and Strawberry flavoured ice creams! Even their desserts and snacks are the absolute best unlike my country. (No hate tho…) I noticed people particularly tourists will say my country’s food tastes the best but it’s because they don’t eat them all day for years. Sadly international food will always cost way more. It ain’t easy to find affordable ones here. Even the 4 to 5 star hotels serve mostly local food, the good news is they also have international ones but they emphasise so much on local cuisines.

I'm American, we don't have that problem. Our food could be Chinese, Korean, Mexican or anywhere else but it's always American food. The reason for that is that it becomes Americanized and it's never really authentic Chinese or Korean or what ever else. It's always got the American twist on it. People don't like that if they want authentic but that's how it is it's always going to be American food. The muttification intensifies over time of course. I saw Chinese people running a Mexican restaurant once.

American food is okay... Not my favorite either, but the good thing about America is that the eating/dining options are endlessly diverse and easy enough to come by (for the most popular foods and cuisines at least). I wouldn't like to eat the same of anything daily.

My Asian brethren!!! Fortunately where I'm from there's an amalgamation of cuisines because of the large presence of minority groups, local food doesn't really ever feel repetitive.
