Naturally so, it's normal for those to think like that
It's why content creators cater to what their viewers want to see not just put out whatever, someone could make unreasonable demand from that creator but in most cases they need those demands to figure out what kind of content will do good
So while the framing of such theory could be deemed negative I do not see it as such, it's a normal response that when you go online you want to see what it's in your interest not someone else.
When you watch a show you want to be good for you not good for someone else.

" The Bean Soup Theory (or "What About Me" effect) describes the internet phenomenon where people demand content be tailored to their specific tastes, failing to recognize that content isn't always meant for them, stemming from comments on a bean soup recipe video where people asked for bean-free versions "

    lmfao... 100% accurate

especially those hating on things they don't even like anyway... lol

It is a concept describing how people insert themselves into content that isn’t meant for them—a kind of “what about me?” reflex.

It’s a real thing. Many people think that everything should be about them. 🙄

Isn't that just another name for "narcissism" ? Gen Z loves to give things that have been around forever their own name for it.

... Can't we say the same for every single generation (of popular press) ? I believe what was egocentricity once became what has been called narcissism after

@Maybe_Maybe_not Sort of. The term dates back to 1898 and came into more popular use by the 1920's. A lot of generations have passed since then but the term remains the same. If anything, it's grown to encompass more traits and behaviors than it was associated with originally. I agree with you that each generation finds it's own words for "some" things, but Gen Z seems to do it for "every" thing. LOL

    What's the theory?

Or are you asking if I like bean soup?

"The "Bean Soup Theory" describes the internet phenomenon where people comment on content (like a bean soup recipe) demanding it cater to them, asking for substitutions or adaptations ("What if I don't like beans?") even when the content isn't for them, highlighting self-centeredness and an inability to see beyond personal preferences. It's a "what about me" effect, showing users expect everything to be relevant to their specific tastes, rather than scrolling past if it isn't. "
