Gala pie is a long pie made of chopped pork held together with pork fat surrounded with pork jelly in a thick hot water pastry. As you can see in the photo it has a long egg that runs through the middle. These long cylinder eggs are laid by special chickens.

Scotch egg is simply a boiled egg, (either hard or soft) which is encased in sausage meat, rolled in breadcrumbs and cooked. As you can see in the shop window pic you can get different types.

They're found all over the UK. Some lay eggs a foot long. Comes out like a big white cucumber.

Gala pie has too much brawn/jelly for my taste... smaller pork pies skip that and can be brought to life with a blade of Colman's mustard
