Scotch egg consists of a boiled egg wrapped in sausage meat, coated in breadcrumbs and fried.
Gala pie is a long egg that runs through the centre of a long rectangular pork pie. Special chicken are used to produce the long cylinder eggs that run the entire length.
Both have an eggy centre and are popular picnic foods but which one is king of the picnic?

Picnics are supposed to romantic. So, Boobslayer always packs a watermelon in the picnic basket. It gives him the opportunity to demonstrate how well he handles melons. Of course melon handling isn't all there is to love. So, Boobslayer talks about things and people close to his heart -- his grandma. She thought she had a lump in her breast but it turned out to be just her kneecap. . For dessert Boobslayer enjoys jigglytata.
Although I never had the occasion to taste the recipe, I have a wee spot for the Scotch egg. Seems practical and tasty. The gala pie seems rather suspect to me: you serious about those special chickens producing long cylindrical eggs? Sounds rather like a hoax; but then, who knows alien chickens maybe invaded the country side ;0)
I saw a documentary about it once. IIRC, they have machines that break the eggs, separate the yolks from the whites, cook the whites into a tube, pour the yolk back in to cook, and presto! infinite "middle" slices of boiled egg. (It's possible the yolk is cooked first and the white around it, but you get the idea.)
Scotch egg. It looks like breakfast that you can put in your pocket and I bet it keeps all day so it would be great for lunch at work in the field where there’s no refrigerator. Clever idea.
Honestly, both options sound disgusting. A picnic where I'm from has things like sandwiches, chips, maybe friend chicken and some sides to go with it, fruit. We don't' have eggs, unless it's a larger event and someone made deviled eggs...
