Do you go left to right as if reading? Or does it depend on if your left/right handed? Is there any meaning behind starting at one end? Or should you cut in half then eat each outward.

Knife and fork a weiner? You’re killing me, Smalls!
The whole reason we put meat between bread is so we can pick it up and eat it relatively muss and fuss free, even if we’re not addicted to gambling.
That said, if i get my hands on a cheapskate weiner that doesn’t measure up to the bun, i make sure the bun and weiner line up at one end and i start eating from the overly-bunny end. That way the last bite is a fair ratio of weiner to bun. Being raised in a poor family, i still refuse to waste food. So i’m not allowed to just tear off the extra bun to improve the entire experience. That would be preferable to eating it with a knife and fork though.
Shame on you.
Who the hell uses a knife and fork to eat a hot dog? It's a sandwich. It is perfectly designed to hold in your hands and bite the end. Do people use a knife and fork to eat sandwiches?
The only hot dogs I've ever eaten with a knife and fork have been sloppy chili dogs.
I don't know what's going on in Britain, but in U. S. we don't eat hotdogs with knife and fork. You just bite an end. Does not matter which.
"It's the age old problem, you pick up your knife and fork to eat a hotdog"... um... I've never had that problem.
The Brits are more fragile flowers, though.
I always start at one end and just work straight along, like reading a page 📖🌭
There’s no traditional rule or hidden meaning, even in hotdog‑obsessed places like the US or Germany. Culturally, most people simply pick up the hotdog with their hands and bite from one end. Using knife and fork, choose the side that feels natural and enjoy every bite.

The end closest to my mouth. 😉
I must say that I have never seen anyone eat a hotdog with cutlery. 😐
I just use my hands and stick it in my mouth. I never payed attention to how I ate a hot dog.
I've never eaten a hotdog with a knife and fork, like a hamburger they're meant to be picked up and handheld while eating from the closest end to your mouth straight on through until you pop what's remaining of the other end in your mouth.
In agreement with some others here: isn't it 'finger' "food"
Anyhow, ... the most practial way to me looks like beginng with the closest end.
The middle first somehow looks least intuitive.
But it's still an option.
If you eat your hotdog with a knife and fork or start in the middle, you're clearly a psychopath. There's no other explanation.
The right end. Always the right end. Yeah the right end. Because the right end is the right end. Right?
The end to the left ◀️😁
I'm a leftie duh @purplepoppy and @abbycado yes my secrets been revealed - I'm a leftie
I just start at the closest end. And I don't bother with cutlery, either.
Simples...
the right side... because the other would be the wrong side
I never thought about this. I think I start with the right end.
I am left handed so I start on the left side and work my my way leftward.
Local butcher sells them with goose meat. I want one now.
I don't use a fork or knife to eat a hot dog. I use my hands.
Either side is fine. Whichever way you feel comfortable
You don't eat a hot dog with a knife and fork. What is wrong with you Brits?
I start from the inn where my hand's not on it
I don't eat hot-dogs.
I end with the 'dog tail' bit.
Middle or both at the same time.
I usually start on the end closest to me.
Knife and fork?
Never seen a hotdog with “start here!”
You start with the soft tip of course 😏
You do not eat a hot dog with a knife and fork!
You are definitely not an American... lol
I don't eat hot dogs !!!
