Do you like drinking?

Question

A lot of my questions and replies here on G@G might mention alcohol. There's a simple reason for that. I like drinking. It's fun! 🥳 And no, I'm not promoting drinking or lewd acts of public drunkeness or anything. (I haven't done that since college 😳)

See, back in the days of prohibition, my family were "Bootleggers" , and it is a proud family tradition we carry on to this day. We don't make hard stuff often 'cuz it's a lot of time and work but we do make a lot of wine and hard apple cider. We don't sell it 'cuz that would be illegal but we have been known to barter and trade. Even to the local sheriff.

So, many nites I will sit back to sample a glass or two of the fine fruits of our labors while relaxing for a fine evening on G@G 'cuz in the winter I don't have any social life at all and what the Hell else is there to do all wretched winter? Winter is the reason my state has one of the higher drinking rates in the nation, you know. I mean, I don't believe I'm responsible for those rates or anything but I guess most drinkers in my state would say that too. 🤔

I like the taste of certain alcoholic beverages a lot. Some red wines are amazing. There are lots of great cocktails - I only like those with rum, gin or tequila.
I like brandy. Some liqueurs are really good. I love port and good quality dessert wines.
I'm not that crazy about beer, but I'll have a porter or stout on tap on certain occasions. I'll sometimes have a Modelo Negra with Mexican food, or Sapporo with Japanese food.

I don't drink often, maybe 6 to 10 times a year. And I almost never get drunk. I mostly drink for the taste, but I do enjoy a buzz. I just don't like getting wasted because, for me, that ends feeling sick.

I'm happy when I'm drunk, though. I love everybody and everything. So there are times when I indulge, like at our friend's karaoke parties.

The reason I don't drink often is because I have sort of an addictive personality. And if I allowed myself to indulge regularly in alcohol, it could easily become a habit. And alcohol is not only addictive but can be bad for your health.

Well, yes, I DID, but after waking up, face down, on the pavement in Tijuana, on Sunday morning, naked, I kinda weaned myself off of alcohol. Not only that but she stole my money, took my clothes and my Rolex!!!

I drink but maximal two drinks. I don't feel euphoric like I did few years back. I feel just a little bit dizzy and then feel bad if I drank too much.
In my case I drink to give others accompany or to enjoy to see others are going drunk because I don't get drunk anymore without toxic amount of alc.
I never drunk much but drinking after drawing lines of Colombian snow builds up some weird resistance against alcohol.

Your bootlegger heritage sounds amazing, like living inside a piece of family folklore. I felt something similar once in a tiny village in Italy, sipping homemade red from an unlabelled bottle while eating fresh pecorino.

I'm drunk right now... and going to keep drinking for a while... I do this day and night... I'm obviously not bragging... I just want you to know who you're talking to in advance before I read your question and respond in accordance.

I read... You're just chilling... drinking is a past time for us. I'm going to bet you're either Asian or white because I'm racist... just joking... because you have ancestors that had to deal with long months of winter. Before the internet... what did we do for fun? Read... or create written languages to read... and drink.

If we happen to be the big brain results of that while the others get their EBT cards, Section 8 housing payments, and spending allowence that is bounced off the back of us... Get a job.

I like drinking o just don't do it anymore well I take that back every year we go up to Virginia City to the gentleman's club and you can rent out the first three floors and go ghost hunting so you rented out at night you can spend the night there if you want I usually leave like it 5:30 6:00 6:00 in the 6:00 in the morning 6:00 in the morning 6:00 I usually leave like it 5:30 but anyway when we go and sign up the bottom part of the gentleman's club is a bar and we drink until we can see ghosts LOL not really but I don't like drinking by myself so I haven't for a while

I sometimes enjoy a shot of a single malt Scotch, but I never drink if I will be driving later, and I never drink alone, so drinking is not a frequent activity for me.

I do and drink almost everyday. I only have a couple of beers, or a couple of shots, or a couple shots on the rocks. Sometimes 2 or 3 beers and shots together, usually when I'm hanging out with my brother and eating tacos or pizza. I rarely get drunk, I feel like something is wrong with my body. Maybe my heart. Once I drink enough to get drunk I'm probably getting a hangover. Being drunk used to feel great and I didn't start getting hangovers until a few years ago. I used to be able to drink a whole bottle of whiskey in a few hours and get up and go to work the next day. Not anymore. I love all types of whiskey, especially if it's good. My brother and I used to make moonshine about 15 years ago. It took a while to get good at it. It's a lot of work and really dangerous to be doing inside the house. We were big on safety precautions, but decided it was a lot easier to go down to the store and buy a superior product without having to worry about burning our house down.

but I do like some drinks that do mix quite well with some meals... that I do like from time to time but that's just "to dine" and not "to drink" lol

I like it far too much , but have radsioned by time limits and volume , no winter here to use as an excuse..
Need to be careful with alcohol, an alcoholic only needs to consume 37 ( standard ) drinks per week , that's not much , it sneaks up , takes over and next thing you know you are planning your week around it , can be an horrendous addiction.

Alcohol is the only physical pain reliever that works for this old boy.

Pharmaceuticals and THC are all very poor substitutes for squeezins'.

I haven't been made privy as to which state you call home.

I don't drink, ever. I have never drank, nor do I have any desire to drink.

I don't judge people who do; it's their choice, but I prefer not to associate with them while they are drinking. I can't stand being around people who are drinking, and will politely excuse myself.

I've seen alcohol destroy too many lives, including the lives on non-drinkers, by association, to consider it anything other than a blight on humanity.

I don’t like it as much as I used to. I had a great time getting loaded back like an idiot in public when I was in school, but it seems to affect me way differently now. I can still put alcohol away, but I just don’t enjoy the buzz. It’s almost like a sedative now cause it makes me more tired than anything. Generally I only drink when I go out to dinner and after two I’m done.

Yes, I used to be able to drink a lot. These days, I notice that when I’ve had a lot to drink, I need a longer break to recover. It’s best for me to drink only a little and not very often. Although I do enjoy drinking alcohol when it tastes good.

I occasionally enjoy an alcoholic drink, but I drink water, fruit juices, Gatorade and coffee much more than I have an alcoholic drink. When surveys ask how much I drink, I check the "few times a month" option.
