Have you ever had food poisoning?

I did s job in Florida and I had dinner before I got on the plane to go home. Before I got on the plane I started to feel sick. The airline had overbooked coach and I was bumped up to first class. It came with free champagne that i never got to sample becuse I was in the bathroom most of the time.

I was home sick all the next day.

A couple of times.

Once was at a Chili's restaurant. I haven't eaten at a Chili's since.

About 15 years earlier, two friends and I went on a backpacking trip to Yosemite. We had done the same trip a couple times previously over the years.
This one was the trip from Hell. I'll stick to the food poisoning and won't go into all the details.

We drove at night to get to June Lake early. Before we got there, we stopped at a Mexican restaurant for some breakfast. I started feeling sick on the way to June Lake and when we got to the parking lot, I opened the door and barfed my guts out.

I didn't want to spoil the trip, so I put on my backpack and we started up the switchback trail that is grueling under the best of circumstances.

After a couple of miles, my bowels started rumbling and I had to take an emergency dump. So, right there by the side of the trail I dropped trow. What came our was like molten lava. It was evil. And I had a hard time cleaning myself with toilet paper.

We continued. But by the time we reached the top of the switchbacks, I was completely our of gas and couldn't continue.

I've had food poisoning a couple times.

One time, my work colleagues were celebrating with a dinner of Alaskan King Crab in Pittsburgh. All 4 of us got food poisoning. I spent the entire night on the bathroom floor of my apartment, as close as I could get to the toilet.

Another time, I was in England and had a bad shrimp sandwich at a pub for lunch. Good thing the men's room was empty.

I don't wish food poisoning on anyone.

Yes! I was on my lunch hour from work in downtown San Francisco, California.

I grabbed a bite to eat at a Chinese restaurant where the food was already prepared. So it was quick.

That gave me some time to go to the Hallmark store and look at the greeting cards.

While I was reading the cards, all of a sudden I had to use the bathroom. The kind manager unlocked the door just in time.

I got it bad from both ends. I was going potty and vomiting 🤮 in the trash can at the same time.

Finally after a half hour, the manager knocked on the bathroom door and asked if I was all right. I mumbled "no, not really." She told me to take my time.

When I finally got back to my brand new job and was late getting back, I was so afraid my boss was going to think that I was a bad employee for being late coming back from lunch.

I explained to her what happened to me and thank goodness she was empathetic and gave me some Alka Seltzer.

Plop plop, fizz fizz, oh what a relief it is!

Probably but I just didn't realize it. A huge number of food poisoning illnesses are mistaken for other common illnesses.

I’ve had it a couple of times, and it’s miserable. 🤢
Once in Tokyo, I tried some questionable street yakitori late at night. Tasted great, but a few hours later I was stuck in my tiny hotel bathroom, missing a reserved omakase lunch I’d dreamed about for months.

Your story with first class and no champagne sounds painfully familiar.

Yeah, mushroom poisoning (non-toxic, but wrong cooking). Gave me 12 hours of vomiting.

yes... three or four times in my life which is kind of remarkable... given just how much I've eaten at random Mexico taco stands, pretty much all of my life...  and perhaps some POSSIBLE road kill across Texas...

Yes but I had to go to Italy to get it. I bought a burger from a railway station and caught cryptosporidia, which I don't recommend. I had to get antibiotics to clear it up.

Nope. I've always been a little curious how those around me get food poisoning but I always avoid it even when eating the same foods.
