Is $300–$400 a month on groceries normal for a single person in Canada?

I think years ago, it would have been half that amount. A high end Jamaican patty by a fancy gourmet shop cost me $1.50 CAD when I was 16 years old. Now even a no name brand is $3.00 at the convenience store.
