What temperature setting should I use on my 1–7 drinks fridge knob?

My drinks refrigerator has a knob that goes from 1 to 7. Could someone please tell me what number to put it on? It keeps freezing my drinks and I’m getting aggravated lol.

On most fridges with a 1–7 dial, 1 is warmest and 7 is coldest ❄️

If your drinks are freezing, set it around 2 or 3 and leave it there for a full day to stabilize. You want the fridge interior close to 3–5°C (37–41°F), just nicely chilled.

I once had a beer fridge doing the same, and 2.5 was the sweet spot for crisp, not icy, lagers 🍺

@brandi555 Well, that depends upon how the manufacturer set it up. Most fridges were set with "turning it up" meaning "making it colder". Do you still have the user manual that came with it?

What does the instruction manual read? Without one, I would put it in the middle setting. I like my mineral water to be around 10 degrees Celsius.

Rule of thumb: Use freezing temperature only for hard liquor, e. g. vodka.
Try to find the manual on the internet / manufacturer website.

If it’s based on the amount of drinks since it would take longer to freeze more drinks, then it really depends how many you have in there, so if you only have three drinks and you’re turning it up to seven, then it’s going to get colder faster I would think so probably keeping it towards two or three would be a better thing to do, but I’m only thinking logically because I don’t have something like that.

So I would set it at 3-4 if you want normal fridge temperature drinks. I had a similar problem where I pushed the wrong button and it froze my sushi to the point where it tasted bad.

the more time your drink stay in the fridge... the less cold it should be

should probably go with a four first, and keep adjusting from there because... more than the temperature... it would be about for how long you have the drinks sitting in there

always start a refrigerator on 4, check the temperature to make sure it's between 34° and 38° and adjust gradually up or down from there. if things get messed up, unplug it for 1 minute and plug it back in to reset everything

No one knows your fridge. You put it in the middle, wait for a day and if it's not good you just increase/decrease it by 50% and see how it goes. It's not rocket science 🤷‍♀️

@brandi555 Can you "trial and error" it? Try the middle setting with a glass of water and see after x minutes (stopwatch feature on your phone) whether it freezes or not. Adjust up (or down) accordingly. Sure this is a tedious pain in the ass, but unless you can find the manual (online, maybe?) for that fridge, you will not know otherwise.

Well I don't know. What kind of maniac makes it so higher numbers are colder and lower numbers are warmer? Like seriously. Why is this have to be a mystery? Christ. I just want my drinks cold and not solid lol

@brandi555 Well, there IS a certain logic in "turning it up" = increasing the power. That is, for a fridge or an HVAC system, raising the number makes it colder. It WOULD be nice to have actual temps settings (degrees) on them, no?
