Have you ever had an idea for a recipe or a recipe modification that sounds kinda gross...but something still makes you want to try it?

I make eggs benedict quite often. I usually put paprika on top... but for some reason...😳... I kinda want to see what it would taste like if I put cinnamon on it instead of paprika.

I know, I know, I know... I know it sounds weird and maybe a little gross, but haven't you ever been curious about something like that?

*Sigh* Yes, yes, I know...

Puttanesca sauce. I tried some at an Italian restaurant once and loved it.
When I decided to make some at home, I discovered that one of the main ingredients is olives. I hate olives (even though I love olive oil). But the sauce at the restaurant was so good that I decided to try it.

It is basically Kalamata olives and anchovies in a blender. It includes capers, fresh garlic and olive oil, as well. I added a bit of tomato paste and some rehydrated sun dried tomatoes, dry basil and oregano, crushed red pepper, and fresh parsley.
Once blended, it went into a pan to simmer and I added red wine.

A base of olives and anchovies sounds gross. But it wound up being delicious. In fact, the taste of the olives and anchovies kind of disappeared. It's a nice change from typical tomato-based pasta sauces.
