A Short Woman In A Big World

Tiny.

Petite.

Shorty.

Funsize.

"Why are you so short?"

"OMG you are so cute!"

"Can I squeeze you?"

"Can I pat your head?"

These may sound so cute and harmless but to a short woman like me, THEY ARE NOT.

So please do NOT for the love of mankind, DO NOT PAT ME ON THE HEAD or you will face my wrath (LOL). When short people get angry, people think it's adorable. Awww are you mad, shorty? Come over here and let me pick you up and rock you like a baby. PLEASE DON'T! :P

People don't take short people seriously for so many reasons. They think of us as little people who can do no harm or change the world in BIG ways. Think of a little duckling fluffing it's wings trying to come at you and all you can say is AWWW. It's not my fault I cannot grow anymore. It's the Filipino in me that made me the way I am now. I cannot grow anymore so please be nice. :D I constantly have to jump or grab the nearest chair or stool to get something from the top shelf. I have to climb the fridge at Walmart to get my Belgian waffles on the very top shelf.

I get mistaken as a child sometimes maybe because of my Asian features, I look younger than my age and the height doesn't help at all. It sounds flattering sure but I don't want to be asked for an ID all the time when I have to buy wine/beer. It's annoying. Whenever there's a group photo at work or anywhere, I always get asked to be in the front so everyone can see me.

I hate hate hate when people use me as a resting place for their crusty elbows like I am a desk or something. Please get your body parts off of me. LOL When I'm in a crowded place, I disappear the abyss. :P Or at a concert, I have to be in the front row or I will spend all my time jumping to see who is performing or what's happening in the front. When I am with my tall friends, I feel like I am walking with coconut trees and I am the mushroom. :D

When I am driving, I can't use the shade. Get the picture? When I buy pants, I used to have to get them fixed to fit me or else I will be sweeping the ground with my pants.

Being short ain't that all bad. It has its perks. I am able to buy from the children's section some clothes that will fit me lol.

When it comes to the love department, most guys are taller than me anyways so I have the whole spectrum! Yes tippy toe kisses please! Thank God, retailers have also started selling ultra petite sizes for miniature women like me for the same price as a regular size woman. At work, I get to wear nice stilletos and feel tall and makes me walk tall and proud :)

I know some people don't take people my size seriously but people at work think of me highly with my performance and not of how I look like. Don't let my shortness fool you. I have a whole lot of woman inside me to show the world I can do things women of regular size and taller can do (with tools and resources of course). So if you have a short woman who loves you, appreciate her more coz she has to work harder in life to get things that are out of her reach literally. :D Or just appreciate the woman in your life. I'm 5'1 and it has it's ups and downs. I actually like people commenting on my height. It can be a nice icebreaker. I was nicknamed hobbit in highschool, surrounded by teens mostly 5'6+.

My family always puts the salt and pepper above the stove, I'm the shorted by like 4 inches. I don't want to climb on the stove to reach things and it drives me crazy, because I can't reach the bottom shelf, let alone the top where they put everything.

Half the time I lose something and ask for help, my brother was like, what, you can't see this? you set it on the fridge. Oh yeah, must've been when I was trying to get the blender from the top of the fridge.

I get lost way easier in crowds.

I'm better at the limbo than most people... just kidding I still fall flat on my ass.

I'm ok with being short. Although if I grew like 2 inches, I wouldn't mind having my body weight evening out more xD

OMG i relate!!! I'm 149 cm (4'11) and I could legit pass for a child. i don't really mind when people call me cute or something though lol.
PS go to the childrens section when buying clothes, especially if you aren't curvy, because im 34kg and can fit into all the little clothes

I've never thought that short women are ignored. Just the opposite. That is, tall women have a hard time finding a man.
1) Most men are intimidated by taller women. Average men's height is 176cm. If a woman is 177, 50% of the world's men are shorter than her and are intimidated by her.
2) Taller women can't wear fashionable high heel shoes. It makes them even more intimidating ( just like really tall men) to others. As a result, majority of tall women prefer not to wear shoes with no heels. As a result, the look a slouched compared to a shorter woman that wears high heels

I loove tiny girls, and oddly enough really tall girls. Basically any girl that is a head and neck taller or shorted than me draws my attention instantly.

Very entertaining and thoughtful. Although I prefer taller women and have never had a girlfriend shorter than 5'6 or so, I do take shorter women as seriously as taller ones.

I had a very late growth spurt (when I was 18) when I grew from barely 5'4 to 6'1.
