Why do girls complain so much about periods and cramping?
Doesn't it just feel like a little stomach ache?

We complain about it because it DOES hurt and we have a lot of concerns during it.
Bad cramps the first 3 days, a 'pulsing' pain in your lower back, my legs feel restless so I can't sleep, very bad headaches. You feel bloated. I'm a heavy bleeder, so I always feel really dizzy because my iron gets very low.
You constantly think that someone can 'see' that you're wearing a sanitary pad or that you will bleed trough your jeans when you're at school, wich makes you very insecure. Also; you have to change the sanitary pad in the restrooms, multiple times a day, wich isn't always something you want to think about.

They aren't ALWAYS bad but sometimes can be excruciating! I've needed seriously prescribed pain killers on occasion to get through the day. When I have really bad cramps, my abdomen actually gets really really burning hot, it's so sore, and one day my ex asked me the same question you just asked, I grabbed his hand, made him feel my lower abdomen, he was shocked! and didn't question it after that. Lower back also gets really sore.. pretty much it's a week of being extremely uncomfortable, with some moments of intense pain. :(

No way. Some women don't get any pain, but most experience some kind of discomfort and it can't be compared with a stomach ache or cramps. It's a different kind of feeling, like bloating and feeling a lot of pressure in the lower abdomen around the groin.

For some women, it's even worse especially if they have PCOS or endometriosis (where the uterine lining also grows outside the uterus), where it causes back pain and leg pain. That kind of severe pain is called dysmenorrhea https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dysmenorrhea

It varies for certain girls. I never had cramps and then one day when I was 16 BAM they hit like a mack truck. They were so painful I thought I had appendicitis. They hooked me up to a machine (the same one they use to measure labor pains) after they realized they were "just cramps" and they registered for me anyway, on par with a woman who was in hard labor. I have dealt with these every month since. I have heavy rx heavy duty pain killers that I take for a couple days a month, but yes, they can be that bad.

Different girls experience it differently. Some girls feel nothing. Other girls go through a lot of pain. It's not just stomach ache. It's very very bad cramps. It's lots of back pain. It's stomach bloating. It's headaches, dizziness... so bottom line, it's not as much of a walk in the park as you think. I used to literally cry back when I was in high school cause of the pain. I remember even going home from school once cause I couldn't take it. I eventually went onto birth control at 19 so ever since then most of the side effects of periods have faded, but for some girls it's their reality ever month.

Shit hurts like hell, its that simple. Imagine getting a Charley horse in your balls constantly while your dick bleeds for 5 days. Along with a hormonal balance of fucked proportions that can make you nauseous, exhausted, irritated, depressed, hallucinate, est.

Don't forget the mixture of diarrhea from excess cramping, or constipation from dehydration. Or the Anemia that some women suffer from do to excessive blood loss.

Every womans period is different, some don't have bad periods, others have terrible periods that they have to be hospitalized for/bed ridden EVERY MONTH.

Some people its not so bad. Mine used to be ok now so bad I can't move or even breath sometimes. You have to pant like a woman in labour lol and hard to walk or sit.Sometimes a really sharp pain, sometimes feels like your insides are being guaged out by blunt glass.

Painkillers don't stop the pain, were talking stong prescribed meds that I already have for my back including one that is meant to be great for endometriosis or fibroids (yeah woman who have that got it harsh)
MIne are particularly bad most women can get on well with over the counter and hot water bottle, hugs and comfort food.
I take the pill everyday now so I don't have periods or I couldn't work.

Never just assume periods are a breeze! I don't really thnk girls should go on about it and equally I have had stomach aches so bag I felt like I needed to go to hospital!

But in short, you an't really say it's just a tummy ache, you will never experience anything like it haha

Compare to other girls, I don't have that much pain, i have bad headache or back pain rather than cramps, may be once or twice a year I'd have bad cramps but not like my friends or girls on here.
I have a friend who faints almost every other month because the unbearable pain, and the other friend who throws up because of the pain. Tyrenol like pain killer doesn't work on them since their body got used to it, so it won't work on them anymore, so they HAVE to go to the clinic or ER to get stronger pain killer which requires prescription.

It feels like cat claws ripping wallpaper like pieces of flesh down the sides of my stomach and then on top of that your entire stomach area cramps and aches, lower back ache, hormones that make you feel irritable and snappy and you can't help it, blood coming out whenever you move if you wear pads or having to keep shoving tampons in every few hours, rinse and repeat these symptoms for 6 days straight.

Because it blows. Depends on the girl but it's painful, not like a "little stomach ache." You get cramps before your period and during, plus joint pain, back pain, breast pain, headaches. So you're only pain-free for like half the time, two weeks of four every month.

My ex said he didn't think guys would be able to handle that month after month, and no I didn't ask him, haha.

Because it actually hurts? Imagine yourself bleeding for about 5 days. Your lower stomach constantly cramping up making your whole lower body weak. Shooting pains stab you and you cry. You cry because it legitimately hurts like your uterus is trying to commit suicide. You bleed so much that you have to wear a mini diaper all day for almost a week. It's a bloody battle down there.

I don't complain to anyone that I'm on my period. It's just such a hassle being alert on how you sit or move because you may dirty yourself. Which is very embarrassing.
Now, I never got cramping, but recently, I have.
Let me tell you, it's utterly painful. Like someone is squishing and twisting your guts inside.

I can usually handle the physical pain very well, but the last year, the periods cramps have gone soo strong and it really feels like I'm dying. I didn't need to take painkillers before as I could handle the stomach pain, now I have to take 1 pill after every 4 hours to handle the pain.

Basically my lower ab area aches mostly on my left side, then I have lower back pain, and to top it off my legs start aching as well. It really depends, stress can make it worse also if I had before I started with salt, fat, sugar, etc. I try to go natural and NO pain killers and exercise. I'll be mad like 8 out of 10 times. Basically our uterus is like bitch time to remove an old layer, lets use a cheese grater and let er rip.

I am an emotional person naturally so when I am on my period it is 30X!
Plus I am more irritable, moody, sad, angry , etc. during that time!
