Why do other girls try to copy me or upstage me?

I am in high school. We wear uniform but i always do something with my hair etc. I dont wear makeup though. A lot of girls from school copy my style whether its my hairstyle, the next day they wear it. For homecoming i told my friend i was going to wear a red dress and now other girls are wearing red dresses too. I went to a party and wore the dress with a friend abd told her i was going to wear it to homecoming. Now she bought a red dress like wow, i know people say you should be flattered when other girls copy you but it gets annoying. They try to steal my spotlight or either stare at me , all i do is smile nicely

don't smile back at them, they may take it as a sign as weakness.
