Why do older people compliment appearance more than younger people?

40, 50, 60 yr olds are always complimenting my appearance... Its usually one of the first things they will say to me when meeting me "Youre a good looking young man" "Wow, you're hansome!" "You should meet my grand daughter" "you should meet my daughter" "You could be a model" "you have beautiful eyes" "Heres my sons photography business card, give him a call" (thats happened three separate times now) and countless others.

I mean, Im not comlaining, It mostly just makes me feel awkward and wonder why girls my age arnt as open to me. At first I thought that they say this to everyone they meet. But then I started to think how exhausting that would be... I dont know.. I dont really care. Just curious. Q: Why are older people more open about stuff like that.

Our bodies are changing and starting to betray us. Wrinkles, gray hair and creaky bones remind us of lost youth. At the same time, we are older and wiser. Our knowledge of what is important in a partner and in a relationship informs us that the standards for beauty among the young are needlessly and foolishly high. So much effort is wasted chasing after perfection, whether in yourself or in other people. So much happiness could be had just by accepting good people as they are.

When an older person is finding you attractive. They may be remarking on your physical appearance, but they are most certainly viewing you as a whole person. This is a much easier thing to do when years give you experience and wisdom. Know that what older people say in this matter is true. Even if it will take your peers a while to mature into the same point of view.

I find the same thing as you. I find that women in their 50's and 60's compliment me way more than younger women do. I never get complimented by younger women pretty much, it is much more often that when a woman compliments me she is in her 50's or 60's. I think older women have matured more in general and see nothing wrong with giving a man a compliment which is a nice thing as compliments are nice.

Whenever older people compliment me I always assume that it means 30 to 40 years ago I would have been considered attractive. I also think that older people don't have filters, so they say the first thing that comes to mind. But that's just my theory.

Some of them just say what they mean because they figure life's too short to be uptight? Maybe they come to realize the pointlessness of emotional bluffing/posturing that younger people do.

Girls your age won't do it because they have something to lose in doing it and because they feel it would make them seem desperate and thus diminish the value they believe they have. An older person is (usually) not coming on to you. If a girl your age does it, most would see it as the implication that she is coming on to you, and doing that comes with at least the risk of ridicule through misunderstood intentions.

Its simply called experience. Some people will acquire it younger through socialisation from parents or friends, but its a shame because many of the adolescents of today think of compliments as tabu or an instigation of bullying. I myself always compliment girls who wear clothes that catch my eye, or my mates when they bring a fresh pair of shoes to school, or get a new hair cut etc. It should be out of common decency to do so.

Because older people have lost their looks (most of them) and can look back at how good looking they were and appreciate it more than young people who have never lost their looks. Yet.

Older people aren't playing hard to get and are usually looking for good genes to add to their family.
