What does it mean when a girl replies to your texts with short answers?

I mean she always replies tho (well, not always but 90% of the time) which means that at least she doesn't hate me, right?

But she never puts effort into the conversation. It's always like: "Me: do you like [something]?" Her: "yeah it's ok". And then she will not say anything else unless i text her. Sometimes she will just reply with "Lol" or "okay" even if my text requires more than that.

Sometimes she will ask me something back, like: Me: "what do you thing of [something]?" Her: "i think it's funny. And you?", but i think she's just trying to be polite, I don't know.

She almost never puts smiley faces in her texts either. In like 300 texts she sent to me, only about 5 of them had a smiley face in it, lol.

Now i know you're probably thinking she's not interested at all, but what's bugging me is that she's not like that at all in person. She's very nice and friendly and starts conversations and all that. My friend actually thought we were dating because we have such good chemistry in person.

Why is that then? What do you think? Please, help me!

What's your gut telling you? 90% of the time your gut is right.

I feel as if you're avoiding the main thing: she acts friendly and nice when in person. If she was interested in you, you would be telling us that she touches you a lot, flirts with you and twists her hair.

She also seems really uninterested in your text conversations. Yet again, if she was interested you would be telling us that she initiates texts really often... but she doesn't.

Why aren't you asking her out then? Why are you worried about or wondering why she's responding with short texts?

If you like her, and feel like she's sending "lots" or signs that she likes you, why not ask her out?

I'm not talking about those signs because i don't get why she's like that in person and then a completly different person through text. And i didn't ask her out because i like her as a friend only.

This WHOLE paragraph and the fact you put this thread in "Flirting" means you see her as more than just a friend...

And that exact paragraph makes it even clearer what i'm trying to ask. Why is she like that in person and why she's completly different through text. I'm just wondering why she acts like this, nothing else. Is that so hard to understand?

my crush used to be like that at the beginning. If it's really bothering you, you should talk to her about it. I did and she told me she just wasn't a texting person and she hates sending messages in general, and she did some efforts with it afterwards.
I would also try the following after you talked to : stop texting her ! . If she is interested, she will find an excuse to start a conversation with you even if it's just a lame, useless message.
