Is chivalry attractive?

Since I was a kid my mother has always taught me to behave like a gentleman towards everyone especially girls, women and elders. Yet sometimes when I'm trying to be chivalrous towards someone they think I'm faking it to get attention. Like wtf, I feel so insulted.

If it looks overdone then it's a turn off. Just be chivalrous when the opportunity arise. If there's a woman in front of you, maybe get the door for her, but don't run across the room to do it. Same if someone drops their bag, if it's literally within arms reach, then fine, but don't sprint to help them. It does look a bit fake, and I'm not saying it's a bad thing to be like that, but she be aware how others may interpret your behaviour.

i know, some women are absolute bitches about it. i've seen it. ignore them please, because they clearly have no idea how to differentiate a douche from a nice person.
