No it doesn't always mean that she see's you as boyfriend material. It could mean that she really appreciates you being a supportive friend to her because you're always there as a shoulder to cry on. My best friend and I are the same. He's married and has a daughter, but informed me that he had a crush on me years ago. I told him that I don't see him that way, my love for him is only platonic and it wouldn't change that even if he was single too. But he's been a rock to me,, one of very few people that I can trust and we both "get/understand each other". :)

Not really. I have the same thing going on.
Think of it this way: if you tell a girl that she understands you better than others, would you necessarily be showing interest in a romantic way? I don't think so
