My mom used a wooden cooking spoon. My dad used a belt. My mom was fairly quick to use corporal punishment. My dad, I think, did it maybe 2 or 3 times ever but those were brutal. All of them were bare ass. The worst was when I tested my strength on my mom at 11 or 12 years old. She was going to smack me for some jerky thing I did. I caught her hand and wouldn't let go. It escalated and I refused to let her free. The whole time, my dad was incapacitated in the restroom. When he eventually came out, that's when I got it. There was a struggle there as well, but I lost that one badly. I think that was the last time either of them ever hit me. They realized it wasn't effective and I was old enough to fight back. My brother and I used to joke with my mom that we got all our kinks from those spankings. It made her feel a lot of regret, which, by then, was water under the bridge.

Never been spanked in my life. Parents would probably fear doing it these days because it's more associated with being kinky than it is with discipline and it might result in your kids being taken away from you.

My kids would give us a whack round the legs or something like that, not spanking. My dad tried to kick me once but he missed. I didn't gloat, just ran, lol.

My parents weren't big on physical punishments. They used other less abusive ways to discipline us. I think that has really benefited my relationship with them- I genuinely respect them as people rather than simply fearing them. Their methods also taught me that you should do the right thing because it's the right thing, not just because you're scared that you'll be punished if you do the wrong thing.

With my moms hairbrush in a department store dressing room. I was horsing around with my brothers and not listening to my mom. She grabbed me by the arm saying I needed an attitude adjustment.
