Though when I read INFP, It's 80% me.
Cause I am still INFP like I was 5 years ago.
Is it possible to change personality type according to your mood?
Cause when I score ENTP, I'm high.
Have it happened to you?
The baseline for Myers-Briggs is too vague and generalised to be accurate since there are only 16 categories. And people are able to engage all different aspects of the things it incorporates - since when you get into the detailed format of it you realise it describes shadow functions. Which is essentially the flip side of whatever sequence of numbers it gives you.
So for example I'm an INTP by the Myers-briggs test which is Introverted Thinking, Extroverted Intuition, Introverted sensing and Extroverted Feeling. But you still possess the characteristics of the opposite: Extroverted thinking, introverted intuition blah blah. As shadow functions. They still exist, they just aren't the most prioritised part. Depending on the situation, you might still use them.
To answer your question in any case, I don't think people change personality much, although you can change with personal growth and experience and newly learned information. So that adds to your character. I also think people act differently around different people.
I also hate INFPs because every fucker is an INFP according to the test and I'm willing to call horse shit on it since it's supposed to be rare. So I'm skeptical on that alone.
I think that Some factors might temporarily change your behavior, for example an extrovert might be going through a difficult time that will make him more introverted, but I'm not sure if the personality itself can change.
Definitely possible. I forgot what my type was before but now I'm a mediator.
I was always typed as introvert but my category for it changed. I think it's due to me being less shy. I use to be hella self conscious
Today had a new test and It said I am either ENFP, INFP, ENTP or INTP.
I guess It's because I am ambivert, meaning, can be introvert and extrovert too and I am equally feeler and thinker.
I have traits from all of them.
That's cool, maybe it means you get along with any personality type. That's rare but those kind of people can talk to people from all walks of life. My parents are like that and i admire that trait!
I wish I was like that. I don't know though. My friends are really different from each other, I get along with people easily, actually I get along with everyone 😂
What about you?
You seem like a cool and friendly person.
Awww thanks, I'm friendly to everyone after i warm up or instantly if they remind me of myself. Otherwise I'm shy at first. I can get along with most people but I'm not outgoing unless I'm with friends
Thank you for MHO ❤
Looks like mine changed personality type infp to infj. I've gotten less shy though so my answers changed. I don't think I'll ever become extrovert though
I'm going to tell you something, the myers briggs test doesn't mean shit. They're just making a profit out of our need to categorize stuff and belong to a specific group.
Consider that you're interpreting the questions differently in subsequent questionnaires. Also the short form isn't very accurate, certainly not like the 400- paid for ones.
You can also study the explanations of the various traits that you identify with and type yourself that way. And you can dialog with a pro and they'll help you make a determination.
Trait type does not tend to change over time. These things are they way your brain is wired, how you're made up. So once you understand what it all really means you'll type consistently.
That said some are saying MBTI is no more accurate than a horoscope or tarot cards. That it's too confining and that peoples personalities are flexible.
I tutored under a college psyche prof for several years and attribute the knowledge gleaned from it to saving my marriage. I also explained to me why I never felt quite like I fit in. My type is extremely rare in the general population. Now that I understand the differences I'm a lot more comfortable with it and everyone else.
I consistently test INTJ. Always have, it's never varied.
Mild I, strong N, strong T, and mild J.
I have mild I, Strong N, T/F cusp, and strong P.
Thanks for interesting answer.
What part of your trait type are you most confused with? I can help you identify your true preference by analysis.
For example, it looks like you're flip-flopping on E vs I. As an introvert I understand my clear need to have my alone and down time to recharge, that a lot of social interaction is wearing on me. It wears me out. A true E will just get more and more charged up - they thrive on social interaction and just want to keep it going.
Another way to look at, in a social situation do you prefer to talk in a big group, like the life of the party? Or to have meaningful conversation with one person or a couple at a time? The former is a E, the latter a I.
Also, do you like to chit-chat about meaningless topics like the weather or sports, or have a conversation about a specific subject that has depth. Again, the E vs I profile or preferrence.
Most people think I'm a E because I'm socially adept, easily connect and enjoy interaction. But I need my down-time and I'm happy by myself.
ENTP is the most introverted type out of Extroverts.
I love having my own time, I write poems and I'm thinker and dreamer. But I love being around people too. I love initiating conversations, whether about meaningful and deep topics or just meaningless conversation. The first impression that people have on me, usually is that I'm very sociable. I have a few good friends. I can easily make friends, very easily, but I lose them over time, cause I love thinking about them more than actually meeting them 😂
When I miss a person I'd rather write a poem than calling them 😂
I love being spontaneous and can be life of a party when on mood, but sometimes I prefer just being for myself, looking and thinking in nature.
I don't understand, I mean I can be both of them, that's why I say I'm ambivert.
I can understand introverts very well, we have lots of things to talk about, but I enjoy being with extroverts too. I enjoy being on parties and usually I'm the one who initiates having one.
Some people split the poles down the middle. You may very well be right in the center, and that's fine too.
I'm pretty center on J vs P, although I'm not very spontaneous. Unless things have been discussed prior or I've had some time to process, nothing sound like a good idea - be an activity, a meal out, whatever. I prefer something even mildly pre-planned. I prefer organization but can be okay with haphazard as well. Or an organized pile. So I know I'm down the middle.
It's been said that as people age they become more centered in the poles of the trait types. Something about age and wisdom or some such. :)
Another thing that happens is that the opposite trait on someone else tends to look like a strength since it's judged as a weakness in ourselves. Like opposites attract - that's really true in this stuff. The problem is then when they act like they normally should, we begin to take exception because it's the opposite of ourselves.

The quirky traits you find curious and entertaining in someone over time becomes the things that irritate you the most.
My wife and I came to realize through trait-type that when we argue we are on two completely different thought-tracks. We're arguing different things from different points looking for an opposite outcome. LOL Like two ships passing in the night.
She's my polar opposite except for intuition. She's remarkable intuitive, and it's a place where we truly connect. But everything else is polar opposites. So while my shoes are lined up in the closets and shirts hung by season and color, she has a pair of shoes in every room of the house and her closet looks like a cyclone hit it. :)
Those things can change according to conditioning, I think.
Bear in mind that we live in a heavy ExTx society. So most jobs, or if you like, require heavy analysis and high levels of extroversion, to excel in :)
However, I'm an INFJ, and shall stay one ;)
Do you think there might have been a time when society was mostly IXFX? I think we've always been in minority and It feels special.

Where you score on that scale can change a lot bases on your mood out who you're around. That's why the Myers-Briggs test only shows up in Facebook and Buzzfeed and not in actual psychological evaluations. It's totally possible for the results of s test like that to change over the span of a free years as you grown to understand yourself better and have more confidence.
she. you compare it with the 14 year old self, you have gone through a major personality change as you have matured and learned about life.
it would be surprising if you would have stayed exactly the same after 6 crucial years of your life
The weird thing is that after being ENTP for 5 years, I scored INFP again just 2 week ago and 3 days ago checked it too.
I think the Myers-Briggs is a really good tool, but personality is so complex it can't possibly hope to accurately profile someone even half-way through. I've always scored INFP, INTP or ENTP. And yeah, it can change day-to-day dependent on mood None of them match up totally
awesome. you get high.
anyway based on mood, i wouldn't think so but based on sobriety probably. cause if your anything like me weed makes you a bit more emotional. so you may go from I to E because you just can't contain your emotions as well.
but long term i doubt it. (E and I are Extrovert and Introvert right?)
Hokay, so this isn't standard advice when it comes to these sort of questions, but I'ma say this: Don't try as conform yourself to what some online personality quiz says you are. you are who you are. personalities grow, adapt, change, etc. life happens. You'll tear yourself up agonizing over what some test tells you you. so in short, screw the test; you know yourself better than it does and if you think you're more in line with INFP, then continue like you are.
But Isn't ENTP almost totally different from INFP? How can it show I'm ENTP if I don't own some of its traits? That's weird
It's a quiz made by some person who probably isn't fully qualified to be defining someone's personality traits. I've taken some where I kinda changed a handful of questions and got a totally different description. there are some similarities and there's some differences. I'm just trying to say don't Iet your results begin to change who you are- Don't try to adjust yourself to fit that result. How you got such a different result? who knows. just don't let it have such an affect on you, Is what I'm trying to say I guess.
Thanks for your answer. I might as well have mild E. I think I'm both of them, ENTP and INFP, probably I change them according to my mood, right now I feel like ENTP, some days I feel like INFP.
We are more complex than only one personality type. We might fit more than that and It's good as long as we have strengths of both types.
Yes. Your views on things change as time passes and as you meet new people. I used to be a Protagonist last year and then this year when I decided to take the test again, it said I was a Campaigner.
My brother is a Campaigner, love that type.
It is possible to deliberately change your personality type, but it takes a lot of effort and willpower.
It does change percentage wise slightly day to day, but rarely will letters change. Personality can however change over the years, especially during the teenage years.
Gonna be honst.. when i first took it i got infp but then i took it around friends and got enfj..
I was an ISTJ maybe 2-3 years ago. I just took the test again and I'm now an INTP.
I used to be a GTFO but nowadays more like STFU.
Hope I helped!
😂😂😂 I think you're still GTFO
we all change as does our personality. It is call growing up, maturing, becoming our idealized self... it is just a process that we go through during life.
I don't believe people can change who they are at their core
interpersoanl personality change, yes it does happen and on several occasions.
It's possible to change I think.
i think you can. According to your mood.
any INFP add me. INFP here.
😂😂😂 Wanna have a closed party for INFPs? I am not full INFP, I am one day ENTP, another day INFP. So.. 😂
nope, that shit is fixed
I'm a INFP too
Do you like it?
no complaints
With age maybe. and your experiences.
at 14 your personality isn't fully developed.
