Why would my girlfriend put her hand on my knee and rub it a bit instead of my leg?

We were cuddling and she tries something new for her which is good and I like when ever she touches me.

However she put her hand on my knee and soon after started lightly rubbing it. Why put her hand on my knee when I was wearing shorts and she could have more easily put her hand on my leg?

She is inexperienced so maybe she wanted somewhere easy and nonsexual to touch? Cause I have touched her knee before but I soon moved my hand up her leg slowly. She just stayed on my knee for a few minutes while we cuddled.

Just because she's inexperienced doesn't mean she doesn't know what she's doing haha. But maybe the knees are more easy to rub than a leg since there's less area to rub

Maybe but she did have to lean down to touch it so we could not keep doing what we were doing. After she was done we went back.

Shyness I think. Generally rubbing the knee is an affectionate gesture. My grandma (or motherly women) do it often to me.

Really? For me it the principal use of it. Affectionate or for comfort. When having a hard time people rub your knee to comfort you. (can be the knee or the shoulder depending on the person).

I try to but she encouraging her does not seem to help her. I think she has to over come her own head.

That could be a thing. It could also be the way you tell her too. Maybe guide her hand and constantly reassure her it's alright

I tried the guiding her hand and telling her it is ok. After a time or two guiding her she asked me why I was moving her hands. I think that she needs to over come things on her own

The knee is still a good spot, but like you said yourself if she's shy she may hesitate to put her hand or your thigh so went with the knee to see your response first.
