Why are quiet and shy guys labeled as creepy?

I'm quiet and girls think I'm a creeper. What am I supposed to do? Make myself invisible and not stare at anything when I'm in a room sitting by myself?

What scorpiondreams said. I'm quite a quiet person but I used to be a lot less talkative than I am now. I used to be too shy to even smile at someone in case they thought I was weird, though it works. If you don't say anything, they're just gonna get even more paranoid about your thinking. You don't need to talk all the time, just do what I do (:

I admit, people think I talk a lot less than I do because when I do talk half the time it's too quiet for anyone to hear, so when you do say these statements just be confident. Also, try and meet some people that share your interests, that way you'll become less shy and people will notice this.

It's fine. People at my old school use to call me a spaz and a creep just because I wouldn't talk to them, it's those kinds of people you don't want to be friends with. On my course now it's totally different cos I made an effort to talk more. Plus the peeps are nicer :P

Because to us girls, in stereotypical land, guys are supposed to be the 'up front' and 'straight to the point' kind of species. Years ago a female would have been labelled a tart if she aprroached a man. And quiet/shy people often seem like they have something to hide. I have to say that not really shy..although in someway yes, but quiet people in general are a big turn off for me, whether girl or boy. I can't stand it, maybe because I am open and sometimes loud.

None of my friends are quiet or shy, and no bloke I have ever dated has been the quiet type.

I also find people who are too nice a turn off aswell, cause I believe we all have our get ups and we all need to let off steam.

Most people get creeped out when a person says nothing. They don't know what they're thinking about and may think that person is thinking of something devious. Not saying that you think that way it's just that people are scared of non-talkers. Maybe you could give them a smile or just say hi if they look towards you.

Social awkwardness is labeled "cute" when the guy is attractive. It's labeled creepy when she doesn't find him attractive.

People always judge a more attractive person in a more positive light. It's sad and pathetic and shallow, but everybody does it. Without even realizing it most of the time.

Hard to tell. Girls don't usually do the approaching either way. They'd rather come to this site and ask questions like "why won't this guy approach me even though I've given him all these subtle signs that no guy would ever pick up on?"
