I've heard a lot of people talk about; whether or not women are more happy being at work than at home. And some say they feel free when they're not "confined" to their home. Others think it's a nice way to show their partner that they appreciate him taking care of the financial matters. They can make sure the house is neat and clean, always.
I wonder, if a rich guy with all the traits you want, came up to you, and asked if you would like to be at home while he works. What would you say?
The reason I say a "rich guy" is because. Since women got in the workforce, the wages have been cut in half for men. Since you've effectively added the other 50% to come work, making their labour worth less in general. The only people who can afford having a house wife, are high middle class and rich people.
No, I am currently at the beginning of my career now. I don't think we can all be housewives either. In a perfect world some people would love to see that only men work, and women take care at home. In reality, there are careers that women outweigh men in. Nursing, social work/therapists, the apparel industry, and teaching are some of the few fields dominated by women. These jobs don't seem to be attractive to men. If women did not make a career out of some of these fields, we would have a detrimental nurse deficient, worse mental health, more expensive and plain clothing, and larger class sizes (which, in turn can have an effect on how well someone is taught/learning). I'm not saying this means we should take all housewives and put them to work or that it's shameful to be a housewife. I'm saying that many people have an idea of a society that is perfect when it comes to roles and responsibilities with gender, but it is not so simple.
As for whether or not I would be a housewife for a rich partner, it would be a tough choice to make. I love my career and feel good about who I'm helping and the impact I'm making. I have already decided to cut back on the work when I have young children. I would probably keep my job as at least a PRN or as needed position. Being a housewife would be tough. It's hard to escape. Yes, sometimes being a mother and housewife comes naturally to some women, but I think men would agree when I say everyone needs a break and something else they enjoy to focus on, no matter the circumstance.
Back in the day, there were very few career options for women. Being a nurse has always been a thing. And when you don't have women running around and doing all sorts of stuff. You either have them being nurses, or at home.
I would not call it house wife, but I take inspiration from my mother. My father was a millionaire when they married and she was a model with an accounting degree. She started to work for him like a personal CFO and still manages all our assets and money and things like that. She raised me while staying at home. She does not do any cleaning other than the odd shirt ironing. However she is an excellent chef. She cooks very good Chinese and Mediterranean food, and has helps keep everyone very healthy, which I think is a pretty good achievement.
So I'd like something similar. I will be studying economics at uni soon and will probably work for a few years before getting married. My mother is encouraging me to model like her, but I'm not really considering it I want to go into banking. Maybe I'll work part time. I was brought up with a pretty glamorous lifestyle and high expectations, thanks to my father. I suppose everything relies on who I am attracted to and fall in love with. If that requires me to work or me not to work, then I guess life requires flexibility and sacrifices.
She is certainly a lady of leisure, she mainly does what she likes a travel with my Dad. I cannot really say that I want that, because in a modern world, it is not so socially acceptable anymore and I don't know how many guys really support this.

I agree women don't understand that the companies are just making more money from 2 labours for price of one and government is reaping twice the tax and all countries now have no pension for housewives.
I'd want her to contribute. But I would be fine with having kids and her being home for the first few years until they are school age. During that time she could go to college online for something she wants to do as a job if she wanted. That would work out well. But other than that I don't want to be the only one contributing to our family.
The lack of initiative and vision from women shows how backwards society has become.
But at the end of the day, it's what the global powers want, whom I'm not going to name. They want white people to die out, and a good portion of white women play right into their pockets.
TL;DR: I would choose to be a housewife only when I feel like my family needs it. Otherwise I wanna work on my career.
I have my own passions and ambitions in life that I wanna chase. In fact, I think I'm blessed being female that I don't have to think about making money for the family as an obligation which means that I can be true to what I want to pursue in life.
However, I don't want to work when I have kids, I'd rather stay at home for the first few years, but I'm fine with studying while having kids. I had some bad experiences of being sexually abused by a nanny and a cousin when I was little so... I pretty much won't trust anyone with looking after my kids besides their father. As much as the idea of a career is nice, I don't think it's healthy to be outside and stay paranoid for the whole day thinking if the baby has been fed properly or if they're doing ok and they're safe. Classes are still manageable because even if they keep you busy or under pressure you can manage to spend more time at home.
This is why I plan to have kids either before I start working on my career very early in life OR once I've already established my career to a place that I could more easily get away with giving more time to my household.
Otherwise, I'd only be a housewife if I feel like it would be more beneficial for my family. Not all families are the same and different things work for different households... So maybe one day I'll see that my family would be better if I stay at home at least temporarily and I'd be fine with it!
That he is just rich? No. I mean what am i really signing for is to have less options and freedom. He can always hang over me that if i dont do what he says the door is right there! Just because he's rich doesn't mean he'll be a good person with integrity. He can be abusive. He can even freeze accounts if he's possessive.
If he cheats then ill be pretty much stuck. Or He loses his business or lost his job.
These potential scenarios lead me to need to work. To be in control of my own immediate well being. Nothing to do with my wants.
If he was rich and awesome like my cousin's husband (he supports family of 5. devoted. loyal. family man) Id still need to have some job outside of being at home. Even if it meant teaching part time or working at a non profit. Its great in this case that both are someway contributing into a relationship. To me.. its about having/giving support to another to help navigate this world and overcome obstacles. Its not easy doing it alone. Putting the burden on one person's shoulders isn't fair whether you are a man or woman

It doesn't matter if a woman is a working wife or a stay at home housewife the housework still has to be done and few people are in a position to pay another person a wage to cook and clean for them. I think most women don't want to be a housewife but maybe stay home with the kids until the youngest is old enough for school, of course this means a career break that may see her struggle to get back again into work with her wages and career advancement held back. I'd hate to be a stay at home housewife when all the kids have gone off to school or worse when the kids have all left home, it would be so boring and depressing. Also the majority of women have always worked historically, it's just now they get equal pay. The real problem is the cost of living, high rents, high house prices and high taxes which is so bad and has gotten so much worse since the evonomic espicially here in Europe which means the middle classes are shrinking and the gap between rich and poor is growing.. We are just taxed on everything.
Women have been working in factories since the beginning, they sowed sails together, they wove fabrics, sowed clothes together, tgey worked as cooks, maids and so on. On farms tgey were often right beside their husbands & fathers bringing in the harvest, in cavemen times they were helping with the hunt, gathering berries or fishing. Your ideal of a 1950s housewife is neither historically accurate or realistic and what you forget it how impoverished most homes were until women started getting paid equally the same as men.
I would love to be a housewife, and plan to be one once I am married! I want to be able to be with my kids as they grow up the same way my mother was with me. I want to take care of and please my husband. I love cooking, doing laundry, cleaning, sowing, and a whole host of other domestic skills. I was brought up in a household where it was encouraged I learn those things.
In the end, I just want to be happy in life. I don't need a successful career, or lots of money. I just want to be happy, and being with my kids as they grow up, taking pride in a clean house, and cooking dinner for my family every night - being a housewife - is what will make me happy.
I definitely would prefer to be a stay at home wife than have to go out in the workforce and have a career. I like traditional gender roles. I like when the men are manly and I don't have to try to be some sort of bitchy ice queen in order to compete with men. I think we are just way too different to try and be "equal" in every way. I want a man that takes care of me. I want a man that takes charge and is the boss of the relationship. Im never going to be bigger or stronger or faster or smarter or a better leader than all the men in some job some where. I would be unhappy and unimportant there. BUT for Mr Right I can do all the stuff that makes his life easier and less stressful and make it so he can be more successful. Its a team thing. I take care of all the stuff at home so he can stay focused on his career, and stay pretty for him to keep him happy and interested, and he will take care of me.

I'm getting married in a few weeks and want to be a housewife. Knowing that everything will be balanced still is awesome. I love cleaning, cooking, and splitting the bills while taking care of other duties. I also have small home jobs on the side so finances won't be a burden all the time. I still wanna be able to support myself for the smaller things, but I don't wanna see this great happening as a lazy door way. It's teamwork and efforts definitely counts. I'm an introvert as well and it's better to have a social life along with it. My social life is online, so I'll be good.
Not that I would like to stay home, but I would like to have that option. The woman still has to do most of the housework and take care of the children anyways, even if she works too. I would like to work and keep all my earnings for myself and for fun, not work for the necessities.
You seem to understand it better than most women. But I can't blame them for listening to the media and the movies telling them how great it is to be working every day for a company, and not your partner.

I would love to be a housewife. I think that if it worked out to be a good option with our situation, that would be my ideal, at least while my kids were young. However, I wouldn't be with someone just so that I could be a housewife, for example someone financially stable on their own. The main thing to me is to be happy, so if I married a man whose income was not enough to support us alone, I would be happy to work and do whatever it takes to make sure my family is comfortable. I think the best possible situation I can imagine is one where I could just be a housewife for 5/6 years, spanning the range of giving birth to my first child and sending the second one off to school (I want two kids, close in age).
I would. I actually love those kinds of relationship. Make him breakfast, tie his tie and send him off to work with a kiss, while greeting him him with a hug when he comes from an exhausting day of work with a delicious dinner prepared. I can always start working when our kids a little older.
Yes. I want to get to raise my own children. I want to feel like i get to take care of my husband instead of just commiserating about how awful work was. You know, really genuinely try to make a home that’s a refuge to my family from the rest of the world. Hell no! You couldn't pay me to stay at home and just do chores all day while the man works. I did not go to college and get a degree just to let my brain cells rot... err, no offense to housewives out there. If you like doing that? Good for you.
But even when I'm off work on vacation for too long I get bored just doing nothing all day. I couldn't picture myself doing it the rest of my life! I would at least have to be able to have a part-time job so I could get out of the house and do some form of work to feel useful and needed.
Not to mention, I rather earn my OWN income, not rely on a man to be the provider for both of us.
I'm a stay at home mom and I love cleaning and taking care of my daughter. I was never raise in a family where there was a housewife but I'm kinda old fashioned and believe in taking care of your family. But if I ever do settle down I will be a house wife but will be working on my own time hopefully to help with the bills.
I didn’t get a Bachelor’s degree to stay at home all day. I want a career and to be independent of anyone else.
I also have nothing against anyone who prefers to be a stay at home wife/ mom. I’m just super ambitious, motivated, and a man’s money isn’t my concern.
I have a career that I worked hard to get to, and really enjoy. That being said, I'd give it all up no problem to raise kids and be a housewife. That's infinitely more important in the long run than any job I could have.

I'm doing an artistic career and I do it because I love it and it's my life. Telling me to leave all that to be housewife and "just keep it as a hobbie" is like asking me to kill myself.
The artist job I do now requires me 8h a day to make any improvement. I'm a 2D traditional animator. Also I'm trying to improve as 3D artist, storyboarder and learning to make better scripts. Beign an animated series/movies art director in a big studio would be my dream. Beign someone's maid would only be a distraction to reach my goals properly.
have you used Blender? and if I give you an image how long would it take you to make a 3D model of a small 4 wheel robot with some electronics attached (camera, raspberry pi and some others). I do robotics as a hobby so I can't afford to pay too much but I would like. dae and. stl files if possible.
I suck at housework. by the way the reason most couples can't afford to have a stay-at-home wife is because the man isn't working enough hours. 40 hours was never enough to support a family. In Biblical times, men worked 12 hours a day, from sunrise to sundown, 6 days a week, to provide for their families.
I don't know I grew up in a household where money was tight because only one parent was working. If both parents worked it’d make things more comfortable
I wouldn't mind it if he's stable of enough to take care of the household. But at the sametime i worry about not having my own money because back in the day a lot of men could get up and leave their wife and children behind with nothing if they wanted to. I don't want that to end up happening if I chose to be housewife- If i don't have to worry about that sort of situation then i have no problems taking on that role.
Personally, I wouldn't want to. I don't find any fulfillment in cleaning the house and cooking and all that stuff, I just don't want my work to be done in the home. While I'm sure part of me would enjoy being able to spend the day at home I think that eventually, I'd get bored stiff.
1. Never said they were. There are many women who find fulfillment in being a housewife and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that, I find it admirable if a woman does enjoy doing that, it's just personally not for me.
2. I don't feel like I have to be like a man to be worth something, I feel like the assumption that that's why many women want to work/wouldn't want to be a housewife is a really rude one. I'm a woman, not a man, and I absolutely love being a woman and love my femininity. I think it's beautiful. However, being a woman doesn't mean that I can't enjoy throwing myself into the work that I'm passionate about and love doing and it doesn't mean that the more appropriate place for me to be is in the home.
I’m currently a stay-at-home wife, but on top of managing the house, I also homeschool our two school-aged children, and care for our younger toddler and infant. I enjoy it, as I’m not much of a people person. It definitely is a lot of work though!
No honestly, I really really like being busy. And not watching kids/tending to my imaginary husband busy. I like being in the move and working. I don't mind settling down years from now but even then if I don't have work outside of family and my home, I'll lose my mind.

I would happily persue my career whilst looking after the house. I don't want to just be a house wife, I would want/ need to work. However I like things to be tided my way and so it would be easier for me to just look after the house.
I would rather be both, an independent career woman and a housewife. But overall, it depends on you want to do. No one has the right to criticize your choice. Plus no women should feel they are making bad choices and feel guilty about it. And sometimes, people should stop commenting them based on her decision. Well umm I don’t really want to rely on someone else’s son to provide everything for me. Like I want to at least be able to buy things for myself if he’s taking care of most other things like bills and mortgage. I don’t want to go and beg someone else’s son for everything.
If at least keep a part time job to save my own money and buy my husband gifts that he wouldn’t know about. Having your own money and bank account while being a housewife is true freedom. If he’s rich, sign a prenup in your favour so if the relationship go sour you can still maintain your current lifestyle 😉
I wanted my new bride to work so we could have a BMW... shallow, right. Anyway, she grew up with a working mom and dad and she didn’t want that for our children. She stayed home and I worked harder and smarter. It was the best decision overall. They kids turned out great and we are a happy family.
I’d still rather have a job. I’m not going to waste the hundreds of thousands of dollars spent on my education and give up my financial independence to clean a house and go to spin class or whatever. I need a purpose.
Keeping the house clean and cooking for him are not that important. Any able-bodied person can do it and he could even do it himself. If he’s rich he could easily hire someone and a professional would do a way better job than me anyway. Being a housewife is technically a purpose but not an important or valid one for me personally. I wouldn’t feel like I was doing something very meaningful or helpful.

My advice is always to be the best man possible. Work hard, be an active member in their community, and find a woman who suits you best. But dont expect to find a house wife. Just start with a wife, and make babies with her and make sure the babies dont consume the same garbage propaganda.

I make the money I spend, no exceptions. So I require myself to be working. I have two jobs I enjoy so much that I’d do them for free if that was the case. Nothing can keep me from doing what I love. Not even a rich man.
I wanna keep my career. Unless he can afford to support me maybe but I still wanna work and earn by my own. I love to pamper myself at the hair saloon, spa and beauty centres which won't be fair for him to pay.
I don't know, I just don't feel comfortable asking money from him for this beauty purpose because I am the one who is going to benefit it. He can pay for dates and other things.
I do like the idea of making manga books or making anime as part of my life but when it comes to having a family I hope I would be a stay at home mother for a few years with the baby because I'm not sure on a sitter when very young unless I got a trustworthy family member who can watch the baby while I work if I had no choice

i think a good career for the perfect wife would be a writer/substitute teacher. she better be a good writer too because we need that income. this fast food job isn't going to cut it. and she's pregnant!
I’m a writer. It’s an at home job but it’s still a job you need a good chunk of the day for preferably with an office room and no interruptions. Like you’re not going to be able to sit there and write while watching your kids. At least not until you’re good enough to get that passive income.

I'm almost 100% sure it is something I would never do the only thing that could change my mind is if I was to have a disabled child in the future who needed full time care.
I know this question is for women, but I think being a Housewife sucks. Why waste talent and other great opportunities that life might offer you being stuck between 4 walls at home everyday?
Women always worked since ancient days sowing and selling garments in the streets, as well selling food at market and being housemaids for the rich etc.
I think if a woman is working 12 to 16 hours days then that's a big problem, but a standard 8 hours a day and weekends off it's nothing and its healthy in my opinion for her overall self esteem and respect as she is being productive in society or she can have her own solon or restaurant she owns.
Really interesting how so many women want a career here. If I had the option to have a man make all the money and get the massive beautiful privilege of spending all day with my kids I would not bat an eye. You ladies are brainwashed, sorry
