Why do girls act different around their friends?

I've been on two dates with this gal and we talk all day everyday, except when she's with her friends. When she's with her friends, it seems like I'm always being a bother. I understand I need to give her space and all that, but she's a totally different person. Today apparently one of her friends got a hold of her phone and was saying stuff like I have no chance with her, and she thinks she's got a chance with her 3rd cousin, and so on. And now I haven't heard from her since. I waited a couple hours and asked if she got her phone back, and she opened it and didn't reply. I don't understand.

maybe she told her friends she's not into you like that but whether this is a practical joke or she is being serious, its a cruel way to face rejection or break up and who the hell lets their friends get a hold of their phone?
