Why do you act different around friends than you do with your girlfriend?
I've noticed my boyfriend seems a lot happier and chatty with friends than he does with me. It makes me feel insecure because I feel like I'm not making him happy. I've asked him about it and first of all he said he didn't think he does, but now he is saying he feels the need to be more extroverted with friends. Even with him saying that it feels like I'm not making him as happy and the tone of his voice is different sometimes when he talks to me, as in he can sound annoyed with me for no reason to the point I avoid saying things because I don't want him to sound annoyed.

It could be HIM! Maybe he's afraid of losing you if he's the way with you as he is with his friends. Does he know he can be as open with you as with them? CAN he be as open with you as with them? When I was with Madame Ex, the ONLY thing she MIGHT get pissed about is if I talked about this girl I used to be in love with in college.

I mentioned to her early on that I like girls with long hair and with the front swept over to the other side. I hadn't noticed but, she started growing and styling it that way for me! As soon as I said something about it being kinda like Jennifer's hair, she got pissed, cut the bangs across again and went back to the way she always had it!! She acted like I was having her do it because I WANTED her to look like Jennifer!! That had NOTHING to do with it!! I've just ALWAYS liked it better when girls combed their hair like that! Kinda like Regina in this clip.
Over the next 8 or 9 years, I never even asked her to do it that way again because it didn't matter to me! I was in love with HER, NOT her hair! Doing her hair that way was nothing more than putting a bow on an already pretty package.
About a year later, she said she was gonna shave her head and asked me what I thought of that. I said, I certainly wouldn't like it but, if that's what you wanna do, go right ahead. Of course, she never did. Maybe she finally figured out that I DIDN'T care as much about her hair as I did about her?
Stop nagging at him, controlling him, bitching about every little thing. That will help.

When I say annoyed I mean we can be having a normal conversation about anything and his tone sounds like he is annoyed
