Girls, Do you avoid your crush? Why would a girl act surprised when I talk to her?

I was at a party with a girl I had flirted with in the past, and she had always flirted back. I thought she liked me. But this time she seemed to almost hide from me. I could tell she was extremely shy, so I tried to give her space, but at the same time she seemed to give me signs that she wanted me to talk to her, and seemed to get upset when I didn’t talk to her... but then when I did actually try to speak to her, she gave me this wide eyed look as if she was surprised or something, like a deer in headlights is the only way I can describe it. This happened 3 times that she gave me this wide eyed, startled look, first when I greeted her at the door, then twice again when I tried talking to her. We ended up talking a bit and she smiled and was friendly, but when it was time to leave she basically said bye to everyone BUT me, and kind of rushed past me. She only said bye after I said bye to her.

Was she just shy? Or could this be her way of showing she’s not interested... I just want to know if I should leave her be, I don’t want to creep her out by trying to speak to her if she’s not interested...

Answering your question yes im just like this girl when i have a crush usually i panick and run away from him and im very shy too. To see if she's into you or just avoiding you try to flirt with her in person then see if she blushes and stutter. Its scary af to talk to a crush!!!

Thanks for replying. It can be so confusing lol. I like this girl a lot so it kind of hurt watching her say bye to everyone only to have her rush by me without saying bye... I can only hope that she really was just shy

Yes and no. I’m a relatively quiet girl, and although I feel the urge to just always be around my crush, I become shy and hesitant whenever they initiate any sort of interaction. Yes, I really want to talk to them but I’m just not good at interactions and I’m scared I will mess up or make a fool of myself infront of my crush. Hope this helps you understand xx
