Is it rude that my boyfriend laughed at a new dress I showed him?

I got my new dress in the mail that I plan to wear for my quarantine birthday/virtual birthday party. Anyway, I tried it on and showed it to him and his first instinct was... laughter. I'm not the kind of girl to ask 'does my butt look big in this?' ... but I'm a bit peed off that he didn't even just say the generic 'it looks nice'. He LAUGHED in my face and commented on how bright the pattern was. Am I unreasonable for wanting a boyfriend who compliments me when I show him a new outfit?

with my girl if she shows me stuff she likes but I dont I would say it looks alright but bot somthing I specifically like which dont mean u shouldn't wear it if u like it but its not for me
