Guy's Behavior

My boyfriend will rarely compliment and is critical of the way I dress, even tho he liked it before he was my boyfriend?

So I like wearing dresses and I’m the type of girl that always looks put together, time isn’t a issue so it’s not that he is annoyed because he has to wait for me I normally take 30 mins to get ready or I already am before I see him, I think my boyfriend gets passive aggressive and restful because he doesn’t like attention, he doesn’t just not compliment me but in the past no matter how long or reserved my dress is he would find something, like saying I’m too much because I’m wearing heels even tho it’s to go to a birthday party. This has effected my confidence and even after I had a serious conversation with him and he stopped, I feel the same kind of criticism in his silence. What can I do? I just want to be myself and be happy, I don’t dress slutty just always feminine and he sometimes acts like it’s a competition or he feels under dressed around, me even when I’m wearing jeans sometimes because I still look very put together. Also any insight on his behavior would be helpful.
