Why do some women still choose to go natural childbirth?

It seems like more and more women are rejecting using epidurals or methods to full pain if not hospital births outright. Why? It's not my body so it's ultimately their problem but it's still strange.

My theory on why child birth is so painful is that after you experience something so difficult - your pain tolerance rises so that you can tolerate all the responsibilities of mother hood such as moving furniture into your child's room, carrying them in your arms during long hiking trips, not sleeping properly when you are nursing your baby etc..

Pain medication has some risk and can slow down labor. I went all natural with one of my sons and it was much easier to push him out and I was able to get up after. The epidural with my other birth sucked ass. I still have pain back pain in that area so I will never get one again

My wife had an epidural for our children and while the first was fine, the second gave her permanent issues with her back. Pretty sure if I could have, I would have taken it too, but I am sort of surprised she opted to have it because she generally has a high pain tolerance as it is and both her mom and sister had little to no pain for their deliveries.

I chose natural with all of my births. I didn't want any medication to end up in the baby's system. I personally am a light weight and don't take anything (or even drink), so I feared the epidural more than I feared the pain of labor.

Well for me as a black woman... doctors dont give a shit about us. We are the leading race of deaths in hospital births so that's why I'm really considering a home birth. Thank you for coming to my Ted talk

Probably because giving birth at the hospital is expensive af, I heard they even charge you for that skin-to-skin contact with the baby right after birth…
