Ladies, if you do this, why do you do this?

I hear two colleagues talk at a normal and calm volume, suddenly the speaker goes whisper mode, then goes back to normal. The whisper part isn't even sensitive information.
What is the point of this?

First, how do you know the information isn't sensitive if you don't know what is being said? Second, are we not allowed to have a private conversation without having others listen in on it?

I don't care if I am talking about my hair appointment coming up in the afternoon. I am talking to one person and don't really care for others to know my business. Perhaps you shouldn't be so concerned about what others are talking about, male or female.

That brings up a good point. What are you so concerned about? That they are talking about you? I wouldn't really care what others are discussing. I work in an office setting and many people talk at low volume that I cannot hear around me.

Do you know what I do? Nothing. Just isn't my business and not getting upset about. Sounds like you may have a complex that people are talking about you or you are missing out on things that don't really concern you. Leave them be.

I did know I could hear it all. It was just everyday stuff, so I found it a bit strange that one would suddenly start to whisper. No names no gossip nothing embarrassing. That is why I found it strange

I am not concerned or upset, I just wondered why. They're friends. I could have asked them, but since I am on this app I thought I would share this thought with everyone.

I am guessing they wanted to keep whatever that part of the conversation they were having private. That is my best guess. It probably wasn't work related and gossip. Girls do this.

She told me the same story earlier today. Hm yeah. There were only four of us. It was only about work. I came to the realization that guys don't do that. We are either normal or obnoxiously LOUD.

You are right. It is mostly a girl thing. Probably 99% of the time. I am guilty as the next and probably don't even realize I do it sometimes. That was more of younger thing for me. I don't do that now that I have matured.

I certainly don't do it at work. That is kinda disrespectful. Gossiping at work or even seeming like you are isn't a good look. Other people start to wonder, just like you are. Then, you can develop a bit of a reputation from it. Not good.

No worries at all! Thanks for the replies. If you enjoy the relationship and dating topics, maybe try to go for influencer in those. Ask good questions and be active in those topics. If you are enough, GaG will take notice and award influencer status.

Maybe it’s just for emphasis. I do this with my friends sometimes but I don’t think we really do it for anything other than just fun or emphasis if it’s juicy.
