Is it weird to sunbathe topless in front of your family?

I was sunbathing topless in my back garden yesterday and my mum told me to cover up because it was inappropriate, but she never had a problem with me being topless when we've been on holiday abroad. Our garden is well covered so no neighbours can see, so why is it a big deal?

people tend to do things differently on holiday that they would not do at home.

even clothing we wear on holiday we would never wear much where we live.

Culture etc can play a part, I know in Europe it does vary, even in the UK it varies, admittedly some of that is it being normally cold as fuck lol

No not at all honey n i dont think ur mum shud hav told u to cover up i mean how would u sunbath being in covers... i always get naked for my sunbaths.. we just hav a standard fence n i know some boys do watch if they get the chance but thankfully my mum doesn't stop me... all she ever says is eli close ur legs lol

When you're on vacation, no one knows who you are, so if someone notices you topless, it's not a big deal. If a neighbor sees you topless in your backyard, your mother is probably going to hear about it... and some explaining would be needed.

It's not weird for me but I am from a nudist family.

At your age you will be developing larger breasts so maybe she just thinks it's time to start keeping them hidden as a rule, not so much due to where you are at the time.

Ask her. My guess is that she's afraid someone will see you at home, and people know her. On holiday, they're all strangers. "Too close to home" kind of thing? Or, maybe it did bother her on the holiday also, but she just didn't say anything then.
