Ok so my dumb ass boyfriend I'm pissed at him right now) and me were having a discussion the other night about blah blah blah me buying and having too much stuff, yada yada...when all of a sudden out of nowhere he's like, "Damn sometimes I wish you weren't so damn pretty"... like WHAT, excuse ME...I was shocked, like who the hell says that!? so here's the rest of what he said,"like sometimes I wish you weren't so damn fine, and *high maintenance*, that you were just a normal less attractive girl so that way I wouldn't have to worry about other guys always trying to get with you and stuff" like wth...if I look good and keep myself looking good its a BAD thing? guys please break it down to me. Is he stupid or is it true that sometimes guys prefer a I guess average looking chick over a more attractive girl?

I never try ask out the most prettiest girl at a party or anywhere. I always go for average or slightly above. If I did that, I'd be rejected a whole lot more and probably have a lot more trouble in relationships. And yeah, if a girl is high maintenance it's a real turn off. I can usually tell just by looking at a girl's room what kind of girl friend she would be. If I walk in and it's very colorful and there's like just a ton of decorations and stuff, then she usually would not make a good girlfriend in my opinion. The best girlfriend I ever had had a very basic looking room with not much on the walls but just a small decoration here and there. She was very realistic and just so much fun to be with.

To answer your question: I'm reading his comments as 'I probably could never get another pretty girl like you ever again so that's why I'm still with you.' It's not a bad thing to look good, but it can be intimidating to average looking guys. They might feel 'lucky' too have you because of how attractive you look. He may be saying that as a way of calming you down or he's afraid of you leaving him or something to that effect.

Our arguements are usually over serious stuff and sometimes over little things like if I want to go out with my friends, he'll get all whatever if there's gonna be guys around. He gets jealous alot, which pisses me off because he tends to OVER do sh*t. And looks department, well...he's OK, a little less than average lol but he's OK, I can do better thought being honest.

Sometimes having a very good looking partner can bring problems. If you were married to Brad Pitt, I don't think you would like all the women throwing themselves at him. This is a normal feeling both men, and women, sometimes get. There is nothing wrong with it.

I am not sure what he is complaining about. If you are talking about spending money so that you look good for him, maybe he is seeing it as high maintenance. Or he is worried about maybe you are wanting to look good for other guys. It is normal to get jealous from time to time. Everyone has moments when they feel insecure, in a relationship.

I'll break this down Barney Style for you. A "hot" high maintenance girl is not dating material. They're materialistic and will more than likely cheat on you. An average girl may be materialistic too but are less apt to cheat on you.
