Do you feel uncomfortable pretending?

When I was in school at age 32, I had to pretend I was 22 years old to fit in with the other students. Now I’ve chosen not to talk to my old classmates cause I feel like a fake around them.

I felt like an inferior person being 31 with no bachelors

Wow really. Lots of people don't have a bachelor's... or even went to college or university..
But I guess we all have our insecurities

At undergrad I was kind of a celebrity because I had real world experience that none of them could dream of after having served in military. I actually spoke out loud, frequently taking unpopular stands that required courage to stand up to the crowd that they only wish they had. It was kind of exhilarating actually to be so successful in the public Square in academia despite resisting everything it stands for, because my classmates tended to respond favorably to someone resisting. Debating people in person is vastly different than debating people on the Internet, because when your face to face in front of people you have to see the next day, there is no means of blocking someone or shutting them down or removing them from your August presence. You either sink or swim, which is how it should be.

Personally, I dont really. I try not to think about it since, I feel like I'm just manipulating everyone. When I was younger I had a hard time understanding people and socializing so I just minic their words or actions or pretended to care. That's probably normal for most people.

That would make me a little bit uncomfortable too. I don't generally feel the need to pretend things like that.

My grandparents brought me up to speak my mind, so the only time I pretend is if I go to a costume party.
