Girls, Why are you so afraid to tell guys your age?

I once told a 34 year old man I worked with my age (I was 31 at the time) but he thought I was 25 because I look quite young. He had spent the entire time I was there harassing me but I'll never forget that look on his face when I told him, it's like I had dropped value in his eyes because I was older than he thought (younger than him though!).

I don't shy away from telling people my age, I look okay for my age and I don't care what value a man or society puts on me and on womens' age and looks - I know my value and other people can whistle for my attention, like he literally did. That's why some women will shy away from telling men their age - we live in an ignorant world which tells women that they lose value after 30 because they are allegedly less attractive as they get older, they are losing miles on their biological clock etc. Men are valued for strength and wealth, women for beauty and youth - it's no great surprise that women are afraid. It's like a man having to tell a woman he likes that he is unemployed or in a lower paid job or when she sees that he is short, swings and roundabouts on the ol' gender train.

Never heard of a woman being afraid to say her age. Only heard of women being afraid to share their weight
