I look like dad-bod. But I'm 220lbs with a titanium leg. How I currently look and what I'm capable of to defend myself or my family are very different things.

Never underestimate a dad-bod.

Had a friend who was a retired US Marine a few years ago. He was late 40s and living in South West England. I should add he was African American - it's relevant. He'd put on a few pounds - mostly round his waist - and definitely had the "dad-bod" look.

We worked together and one morning after a night shift we left at the same time. A group of what in the UK we call skinheads, I guess maybe redneck would be the equivalent, was waiting for us outside. Four of them start yelling abuse. N-word, etc.

John smiles and we start walking. It's not unusual and we have to walk to my car.

Halfway there the would-be leader steps in front of us. Three more behind. John turns and says "Would you excuse me a moment?" I reply "Take your time".

Skinhead steps forward and John drops him with one punch. Never seen anything like it. I hadn't even spotted him pull the knife. The three behind us drop their own weapons and back off as John turns to me and laughs a deep chuckle.

The same four are there the next morning. The "leader" comes up to John and says "excuse me sir, I'd like to apologise for any misunderstanding yesterday" 🤣🤣🤣

The "muscular" example is just cut, not actually strong/muscular. He looks skinny and weak, just with a very low body fat percentage.
