No you are not reading too much into this. It sounds like she specifically bought this dress hoping you (in particular) would think she looked good in it. You are definitely not reading too much into this.
The ONLY caveat, would be if you two are super-close friends already. Like if this is a girl who doesn't wear a dress ever, and bought her first dress. I can see a girl putting it on to show her guy-best-friend because this is a 'big change' for her. But if she's not like one of your very best friends... then the situation is exactly as you're suspecting/hoping it is.
We're friends but not close as I would see it. She showed me the dress the past Saturday. I told her then that I like it when the girls toes is painted white. I saw her earlier today, after posting the question, and guess what... I noticed her toe nails is painted white.
Oh dude... then it doesn't get any clearer than that. It really doesn't. She is definitely interested. For sure! There is no way, BOTH of these things would happen, without it meaning exactly what you think it means. Congratulations 🙂
I think the possibility is certainly there. Maybe test the waters? Is there an event she says she bought the dress for? Perhaps suggest that looking good in that dress deserves somewhere to go to and invite her to dinner.
I did tell her that she looks beautiful in the dress when she showedit to me. I asked her when is she gonna wear the dress and she didn't say. Only that she will wear the dress once she bought shoes to go with it. Then she showed me pictures of shoes she's looking at to wear with the dress.
