Not if it was warranted and you aren't doing it every couple of seconds or when she hasn't shown behavior or personality to earn it.

Compliments should be genuine and reflect something someone does or something about them that isn't centered on the physical appearance.

For example- take my current girlfriend. Physically she knows she is beautiful and a knockout on that regard. She knows it because people have told her that and I have seen men try coming onto her in front of me. She is appreciative of the compliments, but always makes sure to state that she is with me. My compliment that I gave her is that she is respectful of my time with her and that she has been loyal as hell. Two traits I look for when it comes to relationships and them being healthy. She took more pride in me commenting on her loyalty than any of the times I mentioned how she looked (she loves that, but not nearly as much.)

Power doesn't fit in my view of what a relationship should be about.

Power can gain footholds in relationships, but it's never a good thing in my experience.

Just thinking about it means that it already exists in your mind.

I see where you are coming from.

I think as long as the compliment was well earned, all is well. If it is given without being justified, and is not in itself a great memorable compliment, then you are throwing away a first experience (first compliment) for little value. In that sense it is as any other first, it should require and feel as a little extra.

But you could also just give a gal a killer compliment that pays for you living inside her mind for weeks. So its not a do or don't by default.

This is confusing. If she is someone you know and the compliment is genuine and not about something out-of-bounds, why would she react that way? If she is someone you do not really know, and you open with an over-the-top compliment she will probably assume that you are just another dude trying to get in her pants.

Yes. But this is why you NEVER put anymore energy than a woman puts into you. You can compliment her but only after she's done something to earn the compliment.

The other option is be completely fake and shower her with compliments but still try to sleep with her friends and don't give a s*** about any of them. I wouldn't recommend being that guy.
