Girls, why do you find it so hard to call a guy handsome/good looking?

Question

If a guy is good looking why don't you just tell him? Would it be that big of a deal? Or do you feel, you will lose something if you do? Afraid of rejection perhaps? Don't want to stroke his ego? Or you generally don't find most guys handsome? Which is it?

Because when I have previously, they deny or don't believe me. I'm, "Just being nice."
I've complimented guys I've been attracted to in the past, even close guy friends if they're dressed or look good-

Brushed off as if I'm kidding 🙄
I assume because I was just a friend or not their type, my compliment didn't mean as much. For example, one guy I liked years ago kept calling himself ugly (he was not). I told him he looked great and I'd thought he do good, I'd date someone like him (ie: him), etc... you know, strong hinting I liked him?

Declined 🤦‍♀️
He brushed off my compliments.

So sorry, but I can't speak for all women but I'm not going to keep complimenting someone that seems ungrateful or disregards me calling him handsome.

What are you talking about, I never hesitate to compliment a good-looking guy.

Unfortunately some men think even being nice to a guy is flirting. If a man makes me think that he will take a compliment the wrong way that's the only thing that will keep me from saying anything.

I myself find not complimenting an attractive guy for his looks, cuz of the reason that it might stroke his ego. Like if he's attractive, he probably already knows. Also, I don't want him to think of me as some flirt. You could say girls don't compliment also cuz they're shy but I'd say here, it's more like, girls don't feel inclined to straight up go fwd and compliment (still many do, but it's more of a guy thing) Females have more habit of simply appreciating from afar, unless ofc she's confident n simply don't care how she comes of and just wanna compliment. If she's not that confident, she'll just appreciate him from a distance.

A compliment given to the right person is like a strawberry and a compliment given to the wrong person is like poison. I know people that were destroyed because they were addicted to compliments so I don’t do it unless I know the person well enough.

From my experience, when I have complimented strangers or am nice to a guy, they always assume I want them sexually.. This has led to many uncomforyable situations.

If they are not strangers i dont mind saying they are handsome. But I try to make it casual so they dont think im into them

It gets taken the wrong way. I just say it as I see it. I mean nothing by it. But they think I'm hitting on them of, if they're very insecure, will not believe me. Why do you ask if you're not taking my answer?

I know how guys could get if they don’t find you attractive. They become really mean and hostile if you so much as compliment them. I’ve been down that road and never will I compliment a guy. It’s dangerous.
