Do you like shy people? People who barely talk and seem afraid to talk in case they say something wrong? Do you have negative or neutral or positive thoughts about them?

What are your first impressions of a shy person?

What are some common misconceptions of shy person? What are some usual thoughts you have when you meet a shy person? Would you wait around and befriend them or would you just sort of back away?

I used to be extremely shy and never would talk to anyone! I guess as I grew older and started working where I had to communicate with people it helped to open me up and now while I've still got a little bit of shyness in me I can start up a conversation with pretty much anyone as long as they talk back! If I am around someone that is shy and I think they're nice and want to talk to them I will try to get them to talk and make them feel comfortable.

Shy people are just scared of what others may think of them or say to them OR they're afraid they'll say the wrong thing to someone...most people will grow out of it. But as far as non shy people...some people don't know when to shut up and need to learn to stop and pause at times! There's nothing wrong with being friendly and out going but people who are really out going don't need to always try and steal the show from others.

I feel shy ... but I'm incapable of shutting up, so I don't usually come across as shy.

I've seen with my wife and other women when they are getting to know each other, people almost NEVER realize that others are shy, they almost always interpret it as being that the 'shy' person is a snob or doesn't like them.

Nobody knows what's going on in your head. If you ignore them and don't talk to them, they'll take it as a snub.

People love to say 'oh I like shy girls'. They might. But they don't know which ones are shy and which ones are snobs.

For anyone shy - start learning to deal with your anxiety and speak up.

I like both shy and non-shy people. Sometimes if a person is too shy it can be mistaken for acting like a snob though. Some effort to communicate must be made by the shy person, to let me know they want me around. At the very least let me know you are shy and that it makes it difficult to talk to people. I use to be deathly shy. I enjoy helping others come out of their shell, because I know how lonely it can be for a shy person.

I can be a very shy person, especailly in new company. I really don't think I'm a snob, I just don't have a lot of the same interests as many people, so I often assume I have nothing in common with them. I've gotten better over the years, but I still struggle. If you meet a shy person, give them a chance to steer the conversation, you might be suprized what the have to share.

Since I used to be very shy I can understand why they are so. When it comes to a girl I'm interested in, if she's too shy then I'll lose interest in her quick because I'm easily bored.
