So I've been trying to help a friend - they lost their job, etc. - and yet they show so little apperication, they try to treat me like a stranger more than a friend, etc. I'm not overbearing.
Yet constantly I've always felt that they don't appericate my help, that they're just using my help, and it got to the point that after a minor disagreement I just blocked them. Period. Cold turkey. I've been considering blocking them for weeks and today enough was enough.
The funny thing is, is earlier I didn't block them beforehand because I always got upset at the idea. Like we've been friends for a while.
And yet today I blocked them and felt nothing. I think about them but there's no emotions. Like I feel nothing. They're more like how I'd view a stranger in my head than a friend.

It sounds like that friendship has run its course unfortunately. As hard as it is, sometimes you gotta put yourself first. You were there trying to help them when they were down, but if they keep taking you for granted and disrespecting you after everything, then they don't deserve your friendship. It ain't cool of them.
Cutting them off was probably the right call if that's how you were feeling. Really caring about someone means knowing when to walk away too, even if it's hard. And the fact that blocking them didn't mess you up just shows deep down you knew it wasn't good for you anymore.
Don't beat yourself up over it. You did what you had to do to take care of yourself. That's not abuse - that's having self-respect. Now you can find better friends who will appreciate you for real. Just learn from this and don't be so quick to help out ungrateful people next time before they earn your trust. You'll be better off without all that drama, trust me!
