So basically what I understood is to close your mouth tightly and apply pressure to the top of your mouth with your tongue , not just the tip of the tongue

No it didn't cause asymmetry which is rare and even if it does happen to someone it is quite noticeable

Cats can only move their jaws up and down, not sideways. So to mew like a cat, you have to open your jaw straight up and down and use your tongue against the back of your throat properly.
