Mixed signals from a female friend?

I had a female friend who used to kind of show interest in me by having normal conversations with me, always staying beside me, sometimes being a little touchy with me even though she had a boyfriend. I think she was being nice to me. She talked to me in person but never bothered to follow me back on instagram but due to mixed signals i let everything just let go by ignorance. Now i lost her as a friend. What should i do to avoid this mistake in future?

So is it okay if my following is more than my followers? I am basically concerned because it makes my profile unattractive to other potential partners and shows that I don’t have self respect so i am basically following every person without them showing interest or following me back. I heard that girl do judge a guy based on his instagram account. Also thankyou so much for replying back! Appreciate it!

I lost her because she suddenly stopped talking to me and became cold and distant. She did give me occasional smiles here and there but thats it. I used to like her but now its been a long time since we contacted. Also is it childish of me to expect a follow back on insta from every friend? I feel disrespected if they don’t follow me back! Shows they are not interested and only want to increase their followers. Also how should i begin conversation with her. Its been too long and a sudden text from anyone after loosing contact for long time might feel strange
