Longtime female friend I like might have a boyfriend but she still hangs out with me alone?

So, this girl I like, whom I’ve been friends with for many years, hangs out with me on many occasions. We have private dinners together and we go out and do things together. But on social media I’ve seen some things that make me think she has a boyfriend and may have had one for a while. She never mentioned him or has disclosed that she’s in a relationship. In the past she’s been candid about her relationships. I feel like I’m just on a very confusion situation, I’m afraid to flat out ask but I also am feeling uncomfortable hanging out with her when she might have a boyfriend. Any advice or insight is very much appreciated, thank you.

So why is it hard to flat out ask her? That's the only way you can know for sure and even then she could still lie about it. That wouldn't be advisable but people do stupid things all the time. You just need to talk to her and ask her. You can also think about what she does on special occasions. We just had valentines day. Was she busy. Could she not be bothered to text or call? Looking for clues like that might give you an idea but asking her and her being honest with you is the only way to know for sure. I would be really concerned too if she has been hiding a serious relationship all this time.

The only way to find out is to ask her. I don't see what is wrong with asking her. Are you afraid to be rejected? If you don't ask her, you will never know for sure and you cannot be certain that you do the right thing because you will always have doubts in the back of your head.

What you can do is to change your tactics and simply not hang out that much and certainly not go out for private dinners. If she asks why you turn her down, then you simply explain that you feel uncomfortable since you presume that she has a boyfriend.

That way, you don't do anything wrong and leave your options open. Her reaction should be determining the next course of action. Good luck.

It probably isn't her boyfriend, just a guy she has sex with. If it was a boyfriend she would've mentioned it a long time ago unless she's looking to cheat or open to it.

I don't see the issue with asking. You will either get a yes or a no. No harm, no foul.
