Changing for PE at Primary School (up to age 11)?

I've heard that since the pandemic, on days they have PE, some schools have their pupils come into school wearing their PE uniform so they don't have to change clothes at school.

When I was at Primary for the first four years (up to age 9) boys and girls all changed in the same classroom.

In our last two years we changed in our classroom, but the boys went to a separate toilet / cloakroom area to change.

Mum told me that when she was at Primary, they had to change in the same classroom as the boys right up to the age of 11 (except for a few girls who had started to wear bras).

What were the arrangements at your school and were you comfortable with them?

Similar arrangement to your mum - all got changed in the same classroom all through Primary school, but boys on one side and girls on the other.

It never bothered me really, although I suppose I did become adept at pulling on my PE shorts before I took off my skirt towards the end of my time at Primary. I didn't have to worry about the top half as I didn't start to 'develop' until I was at Secondary (although a few girls had started while we were at Primary).

We had locker rooms. I never heard of changing in a classroom.

Where did you hear about wearing PE clothes to school after the pandemic? It sounds like rumor to me.

One of my friends told me that's what happens at her son's school (age 8).

So they wore it all day?

Did they wear the PE clothes under their regular clothes? That wouldn't be too hard to do.

Think he just wears PE shorts rather than trousers all day and a Sweatshirt over his polo shirt in the classroom and then takes it off for PE.

We had normal changing rooms for girls and boys like at any place. Just the benches and hooks for the clothes were a bit lower.

At primary school we didn't have uniform so we just wore what we were wearing that day. For swim days we would change in the bathroom or wear our swim gear under our clothes.

We never changed for PE until grade 6, and then it was in locker rooms.

They still have to change anyway to go to the second period class you can’t wear PE clothes all day

My school charged us money for the towels, the paper towels to use and I never took a shower once because I don’t wanna take a shower in front of people in open

Although there were showers in our changing rooms at Secondary, we never used them (just sprayed ourselves with deodorant afterwards).
Mum told me that they had to use the showers when she was at Secondary.

Well, I’m not gonna take a shower because I’m not comfortable in front of any man ever. The only time you have to do something like that if you’re in prison

On days we had P. E we would just wear exercise shoes. No changing required

At my school, we had two uniforms: one for days with PE, which we'd wear all day, and another for regular days.
