I known this girl since fall 2023. In my college there are lockers. I wouldn’t say we are acquaintance but neither friends
I finally grew the courage to ask to stay in touch. And the way I did it. I don’t know. I guess I fumbled when I asked
I was on the phone on the stairs calling. I see her up ahead by herself while she sees me up ahead not sure if to say hello or so. I wave hello and she waves back
After a few moments pass with the call ending, I thought, mmm this is my chance compared to earlier in the day. I go in after a few moments to go to the lockers but I already see her leaving the building in the entrance I’m enteringto my surprise Instead of going to lockers.
I asked if she forgot something and she replied that she thought she needed to go to locker but didn’t. (though she left something in her locker prior so I kind knew somewhat it wasn’t true)
I just somewhat fumbled after that. I ask if maybe she want to stay in touch once or twice in the summer and maybe meet in the fall. There was a moments of pause between us like. Like it was almost like what do you want type vibe
and eventually I said we could maybe let faith do its things and maybe we'll see one another in the fall with her replying let see what is to come. I guess my question to you all is did I get a rejection or did I maybe pushed it or did I put her in the spot and wasn’t expecting it. Curious to hear thoughts

Yo man, that does sound like it got a bit awkward there with the way you asked to stay in touch. A few things that might have not helped:
- Timing wasn't great catching her as she was leaving already. Put her on the spot.
- Specifically asking to meet up over summer came on strong since you're not really friends yet.
- Leaving it up to "fate" sounded wishy-washy instead of taking initiative if you're interested.
That said, her response wasn't a total shut down either. The "let's see what happens" leaves a bit of an opening at least.
I'd say ease up on formally trying to hang right away. Just say hi if you see her around campus nice and casual. Get a few more friendly convos in to build comfort level.
Then after a week or two, hit her up something low pressure like "hey, was gonna grab coffee, you free?" By then she'll feel less put on the spot. You still have a chance bro, just take it slower!
She maybe has a boyfriend, or not interested.
