"Accidental" touching and other things?

I have a female friend in our friend group and my attraction for her has grown. I think I like her now, but I am not sure if she likes me or not. I am trying to interpret several instances of "accidental" touching, among other things.

First instance: She was sitting across and adjacent to me, but then stole the seat of the person sitting next to me, to sit next to me and then put her knee up against mine and we both kept them there. Nobody moved.

Second instance: I sat next to her and she put her knee up against mine and we kept them there. Nobody moved.

Third instance: She somehow had my phone number and sent me a text. I didn't have her number. Her first text was one that I would know who she is. We've started texting each other some now and she initiates sometimes.

Fourth instance: We were in a swimming pool yesterday and she kept accidently hitting my foot or leg with her foot. She did it probably about 5 times before she stopped and moved a little further away.

She's a friend and I don't want to misinterpret things. Even though my attraction for her has grown and I like her, I don't want to risk the friendship by escalating if none of those things mean anything. Thoughts? Opinions?

i'm in the same situation and super scared to ruin what we have. I may not be the best guy to answer this, because I have the same type of questions, but in my opinion, this is not enough to go by.


if you're like me, you're wishful thinking. i'm counting all the signs she might be interested but am not counting all the signs she might NOT be interested. this is confirmation bias.


I will say it's a good start. she's definitely comfortable with you. with that said, this doesn't mean she sees you in that way. it could all be innocent. i've seen a girl get so close to a guy where he was in between her legs. she was sitting facing him, legs open, looking at his phone. they were watching a video together. she definitely doesn't like him in that way. i know this for sure. especially since he is over 20 years older than her.


a good place to start is to see if she acts this way towards any other guy. pay attention. are you really that special? I hope so brother. I wish the best for you. don't be scared though. shoot your shot! just be prepared for rejection. don't be upset with her. don't think she led you on. be ready to shrug it off and continue to be friends. this will make her like you more since you handled the rejection so well and can still be friends.
