Why do women tell guys that any woman would be lucky to have him but she herself doesn't suggest herself as a possible candidate for him?

Either there's an invisible "if", Don't have the same goals/vibes/compatibility, or she is interested in someone else already.

As a general rule of thumb though, most people - regardless of gender - are not going to point out the negatives they see in someone who asks them. They're going to focus on the good, and pretend the bad doesn't exist because they're either afraid of hurting feelings, don't want confrontation, don't want to be the bad guy, etc... And they don't do that just to the opposite gender, that is just a general thing. That's why people will pump their same gender friends up and not mention the bad things.

(If) You bathed more frequently
(If) There wasn't that one little weird thing about your personality that wasn't mildly off-putting
(If) You didn't hide between work and home so that you could actually meet potential people
Etc...

Absolutely everybody is either guilty of this or lacks the self awareness to be guilty of this.

But that's not always the reason. Like I said, it could just not be a good match. Both my husband and I had opposite gender friends that we thought were great and would make a great spouse someday. Just not for us. And all of them did end up getting married within a few years after we did.
