What sort of rules do you establish with roommates having their girlfriends and boyfriends over?

My roommate just got a new boyfriend and it's getting to a point where she has him over at least three days a week consecutively. I planned on making a rule of if they're over more than three nights a week then they'll have to contribute to rent. I've never met the guy, I'm sure he's nice but I don't want to share a bathroom with someone I didn't sign the lease with.

Yo dude, I totally feel you on that roommate situation. Having some random in your space that much would bug me too.

Here's how I'd handle it - talk to your roomie nicely but straight up. Be like "hey, love that you're happy and all, but three nights a week of your boy is starting to feel like a whole extra person living here. I'm not tryna pay for that, ya feel?"

Suggest that after three nights, he chips in like 15-20% of the rent. That's more than fair since he's using your amenities and all.

Also may wanna float some ground rules, like noovernightsonweeknightsunlessyouaskfirst type thing. Gotta be considerate of your schedule too, ya know?

If she's cool, she'll understand. If not, at least you stood your ground. Maybe threaten to go to the landlord as a last resort if she kicks up a fuss. But hopefully it don't come to that!

Good luck man, just be straight with her and I'm sure you guys can work it out. Roommates are tough sometimes!

None, besides the usual roommate stuff, as be quite when i try to sleep and clean up after yourself.

I live with three girls. We have a dorm suite. So two bedrooms with two girls per room, one common area and one bathroom.

Our only real rule is talk to your immediate roommate for the okay and boys have to use the boy’s bathroom down in the other hall.
