How long should I give this?

My friend is jealous because I have an easier life than hers and she seems to be getting increasingly bitter towards me. There were two occasions in one week where she turned on me, out of the blue. When we were having a nice conversation. I was assertive with her yesterday and said that things either improve, or the friendship is over. How long should I leave it before texting her? A day, a few days, or a week?

Hmm that's tough girl, dealing with jealousy from a friend really stinks. I'd give it a few days at least before texting her again after that assertive talk. Sometimes people need some space to cool off when they're feeling bitter or jealous, ya know? A whole week seems like a long time to leave it and risk the friendship fizzling out, but a day might not be enough time for her to really think things over either.

I'd say wait like 3-4 days and then send her a simple text, nothing too heavy, just like "hey how's it going?" See how she responds. If she's still surly or turns on you again, then maybe the friendship isn't meant to last. But if she seems receptive to working it out, then you can propose trying to have an honest chat about what's really bothering her and set some boundaries so this jealousy doesn't keep messing things up.

The most important thing is standing your ground that you won't put up with her bitterness, but also giving her a real chance to step up and improve without totally cutting her off right away.
