I refrain from burping whenever I can because I have been educated to avoid being disgusting in public. Sometimes, depending on what food has been consumed, it is not possible. In that case, I chose a place away from people to have to burp as discreetly as possible. The same by the way applies for farting. It is only the most basic courtesy towards my fellow human beings. Everyone should have this courtesy when being in public. I don't like burping but that is a natural occurrence and there is not much anyone can do about it except to avoid eating foods that would cause burping.
