They were not permitted to attend the Symposia and get drunk with men. This is in contrast to the Romans, initially they were more conservative too, but by the time of the early Empire women were getting drunk and feasting alongside the men, and that was the golden age. The empire wouldn't fall for hundreds more years.

What about Theodosius he was pretty devout and he banned paganism. All the vices you mentioned weren't anything that only came around at the end of Roman rule. There are other things that demonstrate that the Empire was becoming more conservative towards the end. @Jackblue Yes the Greeks had distinctions between the sexes, became more sexually permissive and later fell. The Romans were conservative, liberalized, tried to reconserve and then fell. I think there's something of a natural progression of societies in this respect from every empire I'm aware of. They start off with conservative values of chastity, piety etc. Most start off polygynous. Then they start to liberalize and accommodate the eclectic. Then society starts to fall apart. Most try to return to conservatism RE: the Christian rule of Rome and Great Awakening's in the US some stave it off, but eventually all will fall.
